This is probably NOT the issue, as I'm sure you've practiced with your broadheads, but they do group like your field tips right? I know I had to tweek my brace height just a bit to bring them together on my longbow. In my recurves they always flew the same.

All I know that I know right now is that I am not meeting my expectations. In the last month I've lost as many deer as I've lost in a decade with a compound.

Practice a ton, stick with it,get comfortable, pick a spot low, pick a hair on that spot, "zoom in", pull through the shot, hold your form, repeat.

It's easy to pull high when shooting sitting down.

I get that but this is the frustration I face. First shot since, 15 yards. Didn't shoot yesterday do to weather and things to get done but walk out, draw back and get this. Just like any other practice session. Name: 20161224_120229.jpg

I am. That's why I am out there shooting as the wife is telling me I don't have time for that today. I told her I don't have time not to. Hurts my gut to lose an animal. However I know nature has more cruel ways to let them die. Walked up on this pig twice while searching for the doe. Second time I recognized the reason he didn't "run" off was something was wrong. A couple of quick shots from my AR ended his suffering and starvation. Bottom jaw was broken off on both sides an inch in front of the joint. We aren't near a road so I suspect fighting did him in. Emaciated and dying slow you can see his spine and hips have no meat on them. Nice cutters on a broken jaw.Name: 20161222_124456.jpg

Shooting quite a bit and noticed arrow flight issues. Checked brace height and was off an eighth inch. Was kind of talking silent smack on the string as I twisted it even more when I noticed the limb end didn't look right so I unstrung and found my lower limb bolt had backed off. So I tightened it back up and reworked the string as needed. Don't want to Loctite them but can't live with that issue. Ideas?

What bow?

I only shoot takedowns, and have never had a limb bolt come loose.

If you're interested in one of his bows you should go ahead and place the order!! His wait time is roughly a year, but you only have to pay $100 to get on his list. I just would hate to wait that long for a bow. He makes some really, really nice stuff though.

Shot three different ones and they hit relative to my field points.

Trad is very challenging....keep your head up and don't get down on yourself to bad. I would try and keep my shots on animals close for a while. Close enough that you can see the fleas jumping off them.

I'm at the ranch cleaning up crap around the home site and burning trash piles. No water here to shower yet, well guy is coming out next week to try to get things going, but I may give it a go this evening. Definitely a lot of deer and pig activity at the two feeders we have up. Saw several deer, including two bucks, this morning while working. I'm pretty excited about the future of this place.

traditional bowhunting is 100% mental, plus you have to be ok with not tagging a deer every year, i have other weapons but i went all stickbow for the first time ever this year and got no deer, but no regrets...i learned a ton

Once you learn a bit more, and of course, if you have a place to hunt where there are deer to shoot, you can go years and years with getting deer every year!!

yeah I didn't get to hunt a lot in archery only season, when I started hunting a lot in November I couldn't kill any does at the time due to antlerless restrictions and I had 6 does in 3 sits within 10 yards lol...that's about right, I had bucks all around me but just out of stickbow range, it was fun though, one more sit on sunday

Yep, this is the "goal" I am working towards. It is why I follow the mantra that I have picked up from here : "nothing wrong with other methods, but you won't kill an animal with trad gear when you sit with something other than trad gear."

I'm not okay with not filling tags. I kill stuff. That's what I do. I fix stuff and I kill stuff. How it gets done is what is different here. I know I'm not where I will be 3, 6, 9 months from now. But I will kill my deer. No question in my mind.

Because that is who I am.

Well done at the lease. I have one tag left. Taking the recurve to the ranch tomorrow and sit the evening. Saving it for an unlucky doe.

I don't know buddy... both of my WT kills with my trad bow came on days that I didn't think I should be out there... but I was determined to get it done. I am somewhat hoping that the last weekend is cool, damp, and overcast. It seems like perfect days aren't the best days and the crappy days turn into perfect days.

I can't disagree with that. I just can't deal with the freezing cold like I used to. Once it hits the 20s it makes the sits miserable for me. Maybe Sunday I will go tough it out. When you're semi retired and it's the slow time of year for your business you can be flexible.

Button buddy got full and moved on. Still lots of daylight and corn on the ground. The hill country this place is not. Hopefully though with some hard work and tlc we can get more deer here over the years.

Wind died completely. Nothing else wandered in. I'm sure the pigs will clean up over night. There was supposed to be a SE wind 6-8mph and it was still as all get out. Morning is supposed to be a west breeze. If so I will sit another set up.

Bumped 2 deer off the feeder coming in. Got here 30 minutes b4 it went off but there was still plenty on the ground from the morning throw. That was almost an hour ago. Nothing but cold wind and birds since. Hoping mire will move as this cold should put them on feed and the acorns are finally gone. Pigs were in here again last night. Got about an hour of good shooting light left.
