Default Morning Errection, my barndo build

The wife and decided to build a ranch barndo to possibly move into in a few years. Plan on doing all the work myself other than the concrete and HVAC.

I have started with the building itself, fabricating the columns and rafters, Installing them along with lots of purlins. It's been a lot of work and heavy overhead lifting but the wife and I are warriors working together.

It's going to take some time getting this done on our own but know it's going to be very rewarding when finished.

Taking some phone pics along the build. Have also been using a gopro for time lapse stuff but the wife doesn't like me taking time from working messing with it.

Thank goodness it's about a barndo build..if I would have made a heading like that I would be in banned camp for the rest of my life.

It's close.....42x95
12ft sidewalls with the center being 19ft. All rooms will be good size with 9-10ft ceilings.

Some of the pictures throughout this thread will be out of sequence.

Here are 2 pics of the site before anything was done.

From the front

From the back.

I already have my 40x85 shop built. It's where I did the fabrication of the rafters and columns. It's also where the cabinetry/custom fixtures will be made.

Welding some purlin clips on....

Started hanging roof purlins.

I am back at this weekend. Picked up some materials today for a loft area in the utility room. The heat is starting to get brutal on the concrete. Getting closer each week on getting the sides and roof on.

Ha ha , those Stanley's are not made like the older ones. I am on my 3rd one since I started this project.

Making some beams for a loft area.

Been messing with the gopro and this is my first attempt to post a quick video.

Default Trying to learn

I have shot "GoPro" video throughout this do it yourself project. Don't have a clue on how to get it from camera to the interwebs but today I was able to do some very basic editing. I uploaded a clip to YouTube and hope it can be seen here. I'll have to do this is parts I suppose. This is from the morning of the pour to me fabricating the WF beam for the rafters. Still have a bunch more clips to do.

I did get some help from some co-workers putting up the rafter beams, try as I may it was just to much for me and my wife. I rented a telescoping forklift for that.

Hanging the roof purlins was a trying experience especially on the peak. Was able to get a couple up while I had the forklift but 95% were lifted up and installed by hand. Only dropped one from 19ft. I kissed the ground after installing the last 72lb roof purlin. I am truly blessed with a wife that helps me with whatever I am doing.

The heat is something to contend with now. I am slowing my pace and taking a lot of water breaks. Taking my time as I realize this is going to be a long term project but I do want to get it dried in soon.
