This was all about how much value we will get out of it, which will be a ton.

As far as under here goes, all I have left is countertops and gutters. I'm gonna try to work a deal with my countertop guy, so he may not be able to jump right on it. Plus I have to move my in laws from NE Louisianna to wise county in the next few weeks...so we'll see how that goes. Getting the yard put back together could take a while.

We're gonna sand it down, polish it up, and re paint it. Blair wants to paint it turquoise....we'll see.

Either way it's going over there to the left at the end of the countertop.

Besides, a little bright color in all this earth tone based project might also bring something "cool" to the mix. Now I'm thinkin turquoise and chrome, like an old '55 Chevy! That bout does it...

Ask your wife?? This seems up her alley, blue door and all that.

I know a man who has one of those old fridges and its a surf green. You may be able to find an original color that is close enough to make you both happy.

I like the original restoration but yeah pick your battles. I think you are on the right path with making it look like a 55 Chevy.

Will you be allowed to sticker it up? That's the real question

It's gonna be turquoise if it lasts through the restoration. Not a battle I'm gonna fight, and it will make my wife happy. I hope to polish up the chrome good and paint some white accents on there, we'll see.

It's gonna take some bondo.

I finished cleaning up the mess, and buried all the scrap stone and brick bats. Everything else ground to a halt while I moved my in laws from out of state, Tee ball started, and my countertop guy temporarily lost his head.

I should pick up countertops in the next day or two and get back to work.

Things kind of ground to a halt between moving my I laws to Texas, Tee ball, and waiting on countertops and the equipment to get them here. Nonetheless dad came up today and we got the countertops on.

Great thread. Thanks for taking us with you. Those are the most beautiful outdoor countertops I've ever seen. Are they really petrified wood?

Question: why did you make the ceiling so low? Why even have a ceiling at all? Was the open-air option not feasible? I am not a builder; just trying to think it through.

I made them the same height as the existing porch ceiling, 10'. I wanted it covere so I could use and enjoy it when it rains, and have shade when it's 102.

We are selling it at work, in conjunction with a countertop company. It's not cheap, but it's very unique.
