While the trails are nice to gain access to the forest, the amount of acerage they remove for hunters is alarming.

It's kind of a double edge sword. The Sam is slowly being geared as a more urban park than a hunting area.

I'm concerned about what happens after this new neighborhood is built there at 45 and 1374 (or 1375. Whatever it is right there at New Waverly). You get all these **** Houston yuppies that haven't got a ****ing clue about nature (which should be obvious since they're tearing up a beautiful piece of property and displacing untold numbers of animals from their homes to build look-alike McMansions, but yet they can't see the irony) and don't want any barbarians killing those helpful deers (yes, I said "deers." I know better, but city-slickers don't).

I think you meant helpless....Right?

I agree, they'll build homes, displace animals, create more problems and not have a clue. They'll also complain about the deer eating their plants and never even think about how the deer were there first.

That's a whole separate problem. Right now I'm concerned about long trails that take away acres of land that we can hunt. ( Remember we have to be 50 yards away at a minimum) if they consider it occupied, we have to be 300 yards away! ( Both sides) That's a 600 yard path through the woods that we can't hunt. Thereby reducing the numbers of acres we can hunt.

Oh I totally understand. It's death by a thousand cuts.

Oh, and yes. I meant helpless. That's what I get for trying to talk to customers and piddle with TBH at the same time.

Yep. Enjoy it while it lasts. It sucks too. Not near the hunters these days so not near the support in saving these lands for hunting.

Was informed today that there are more burns and clearcuts planned this spring for the beetle problem. I do not know where to look to get the locations.

You don't know how many Urbanarians ask me if I've caught any deer . I just smile or smirk and inform them I don't use Cast nets or traps . And I think WOW !! These people don't get out much.

There is a guy selling a 2wd 4l60e transmission claiming that it fits everything and that it is actually a 4wd transmission, you just have to take the tail shaft housing off. I am pulling out my hair but I have already tried to set him straight. I don't want to get put in the cooler so I come rant to you guys.

David, i used to get the emails about all the work and burns in the forest but have not seen anything for a while now. The forest office will have a map on their desk for the public to see where bruns will take place as they plan them. If i see anything I'll let you know

My funny for the day. Sherry and I arrive in Foley for the first tournament of the year. As we are heading down 59 a car goes by. Then slows down and they look at us. I turn and look at them and say what the %#+ are you looking at? Then realize it's the Olympic gold medalist Brady Ellison and his wife Toya waving at us. I was like oops. What are the odds of that happing lol.

Looks like there's a group of guys here on TBH trying to put together a coalition to address loss of hunting rights on some of our public grounds here in TX. Thought y'all might be interested:

You won't anymore. Today is my last day at my current job. I accepted a job in lufkin at a CPA firm. So I'm also about to put my beater dodge on the market for a rice burner, then trade my wifes car for a nicer truck for her and the kids.

They at the granger ranger hunt.

I know I'm crazy, but it's an opportunity that i can't pass up. 1.5 hour drive. Could eventually transfer to livingston, or we just move up there and be closer to other public lands and other rivers and lakes.

Mmmmm, those bacon seeds were good. Seems like every year we catch piglets. Getting to be a tradition.

Y'all really need to come to this hunt. It's one of the highlights of the year. Tod went and would have been here this year, but already had a shoot. Maybe next year.

Granger Ranger Extreme Hunt.

Make it.

Blast and Cast Men's Ministries hunt or fishing trip.

Make it.

You won't be sorry.

The Granger hunt is in Feb. Just look up GRXH. There are numerous threads. I believe he posts the new thread in Jan. So keep an eye out.

For the Blast and Cast event, go to

http://blastandcast.org

Blastandcast.org or you can find us on Facebook. There are several events. There are a couple bass fishing trips, a salt water fishing trip and the Rockport duck hunt in Jan. All good events with good people.
