I have 2 identical laptops. One is fine, the other has a bad dc jack. Can I just take the hard drive out of the bad one and pop it in the good one? Anything special I will have to do when I boot it up? Thanks in advance.

That would work fine. The only thing you might have to do is setup your Internet connection again.
If anything doesn't work after the swap, just reinstall the drivers for the affected device. -
If you're lucky.... but I doubt the info Windows has on your current HAL will jive with the "new" hardware....
This was a nightmare with Windows XP... not too sure about Vista, 7 or 8 as I've yet to try it.

If they are identical, then it will work. You will have to re-enter the key for Windows and Office if you are running them. I do this at work all the time.Comment
