Whenever you place any sort of mixer in your drink, how can you really taste your whiskey ? I simply can’t get a good read on the whiskey [emoji1634] if for instance I make the old standby Jack and Coke.
But if I use one of those oversized round ice balls in a whiskey [emoji1634] glass , the whiskey gets cold and the ice doesn’t seem to melt so fast, and I can really taste all or as much of the after notes [emoji404] of the drink.
Am I just not good enough to separate the mixer from the whiskey ? Kinda what I was thinking because I’m not much of a creative person.

Picked up a few bottles after work. Digging the Boone County 12 lately, but love the Very Old Barton Bottled In Bond, especially for the price of $14.99. Also picked up a bottle of Caribou Crossing Canadian whiskey, which I’ve never seen on the shelf before and only had in bars. Not bourbon , but it’s pretty good too.

I tend to be a purist myself. Everyone can keep their ice, water, cola and what have you.

I drink Makers Mark with coke when I just want a beverage. Its a good combo and yes I can tell a difference in coke between whiskys, crap still tastes like crap even with coke.
Neat, all day though on anything else.
