Man what a great opening morning. I spent the morning in a double tree stand with my son and witnessed pure greatness!
Could not be more proud of him. Been seeing a big old 8 point with kicker come in for awhile. Posted him on the management forum a while back and everyone said he was at least 5.5+....so we put him on the "hit list". Before day light we could see a couple of small bucks under the feeder then they wondered off. At 7:00am the feeder went off, had the two small bucks run back in and start feeding. A few minutes later I see them look off to our left and I knew it was game on the minute I saw the big seven pointer walk out. For the last month or so the seven has been running with this old fart and sure enough...the old man steps out of the brush behind the seven pointer. They came right in and we had the four bucks under the feeder tearing up the corn. My son raised up and slowly drew back...I whispered "take your time and it may help to breathe".
Before I knew it "THWACK" he put the smack down on him...stuck him good. We gave each other a hug and knuckles. Then the shakes hit him.....I thought he was going to shake us out of the stand...they were uncontrollable for a few. Then he looked at me and turned into Uncle Ted on me and said "The beast is dead...long live the beast" I about fell out of the stand laughing What a great way to spend the opener......watching my son kill his best bow kill to date!! You a baaaaaad man with a bow!!! Congrats little buddy!!!
