How bad is the grease/oil splatter around the griddle? Like if it was on my back patio, will it splatter oil around it on the floor while cooking?

I totally agree!! looking at the individual ingredients on the griddle, I was not impressed, but when it's assembled, it makes me want to lick my screen!!

I bought a mat from Home Depot that my griddle sits on. I have mine on the back porch at my house. Oil splatter is a non issue with the mat down.

I haven't gotten a mat, but I think you need to have one if it is on anything other than dirt.
