water around El Campo

Is there anywhere close to El Campo to try out a Kayak ? A freind looking to by one from a guy in Spring . Wanting to meet half way .

Just south of El Campo is lake Texana. There is a boat ramp right off Hwy 59. That would be a good spot.

Lake Texana is 20 miles south of El Campo on 59 or 10 miles to the north is the Colorado river. You can access the river from the north bound side of 59 on the west side of the river.

Other than that, it's most all private.

From ElCampo head North on 59 towards Wharton. You get to the Colorado River. ALSO. in Wharton there is a small park on the river close to a Mexican food restaurant called Los Cucos (if it is still there, been a while since college?) you can access the river there as well.

All good answers and then Bay City has Colorado on hy 35 the above locations would be better for YAK...Ganado has a nice ramp on 172 towards coast just a mile or so off 59 on Mustang creek which runs into L texana
