    Target sight recommendations

Can some of the 3d pros on here help me with rigging out a full blown target bow? I just bought a bowtech specialist and I'm looking for recommendations for sights rest and stabilizers. I will be shooting some form of open class so I'm looking for an adjustable single pin sight with a scope. But I have little knowledge of full blown target setups as to what is out there and the advantages and disadvantages of one scope or sight compared to the next.

    Good question!

This is a very good question and thought provoking. You should get a variety of answers and most will simply be what that person is shooting.
What you need to consider is the size of the housing and how long of a sight bar you want. The length is very adjustable so that isn't a biggie.
Basically you want to start by adjusting the sight bar so that the housing is the same size or slightly smaller than the peep aperture. That way you can align the two for a consistent line up. I personally like a small housing (aim small, miss small, and helps to focus). But the trade off is I have to pull the sight in as far as possible. That means a shorter distance between the front and rear sight, which could have a slight trade off on aiming accuracy.

Rest- I shoot using a simple Trophy Taker Pronghorn drop away rest. I have used the same rest for many years. It is simple to set up and I have never had any problems. Because of its simplicity, it never breaks and performs the same every time. I am not sponsored by them but I would not shoot any other.

Sights- I currently use an Axcel sight with an Achieve sight bar. I like the Axcel because the sight bar is very tight with no play and the clicks stay very true. You will get the same performance with SureLoc and lots of people like the CBC, but I have seen many of the CBC sight bars break. Something to consider is that if you plan on competing on the national level, Axcel and Shrewd are the only ones that pay contingencies at the big Pro-Ams.

Lens- I'll make this simple. Get a Classic lens that will fit your housing and brand. Nearly all other lenses are concave and if they are removed (for cleaning), they must be re-installed exactly the same or you will have distortion. Classic is flat with guaranteed no distortion. For 3D, don't get any higher magnification than 4X because movement is very amplified.

Truball Axcel sight is the best ! An ax3000 or Ax 2000 for 3d or the achieve with the new carbon bar is nice too ! Ax41 or 31 scope with a 3x lens ....3x is best all around magnification....or the shrewd nomad scope with .15 pin is a very nice scope also....good luck. !

I have used them all over the years. I always come back to CBE (Custom Bow Equipment). I am currently shooting a CBE Quad Lite with a Shrewd scope and Shrewd 4x lens with a LP Light. I also have a CBE 3DX2 with a Classic scope and 4x Classic lens that I like equally as well. My wife has two Sure Loc Supreme s with 42mm Sure Loc scopes with Sure Loc Black Eagle lens that she loves.

Well I just got the bow in. It's a 70 pound instead of the 60 I was supposed to be getting. I guess I will have to mess with arrow combinations to bring it back to 290.
