You made an excellent decision! The VX6hd's are amazing scopes and the dials and zero stop are IMO way above anything else out there. I sold a high end Nightforce for my first VX6HD and like it way more than the Nightforce.

The vx6hd is a good hunting scope.

I would have gotten the Mark 5 for what you are wanting to do.

Rubi is spot on in his post about the VX6 and varmint reticle.

Congrats, The money pays off for high end glass is in low light conditions. You will see your notice the difference and see the target better. Its almost cheating like...

Yes what these guys say. And rubi.

Op im sure you’ll like it but imho the tmoa reticle would’ve been a better choice then a varmint bdc. But that’s just my opinion on it.

Not sure if I could get used to glass that big on a dedicated hunting rig, but it would be a solid choice if I could. At the risk of sounding like an Athlon commercial, this past weekend proves why I think the Ares ETR offers the best value in the LR scope market right now.

I just watched a Ares ETR take 2nd place at our ELR match on Friday......which stretched out to almost 3,000 yds. Then watched another one take 1st on Saturday's match which went to a mile. Both of those are pretty extreme distances that demand absolute tracking reliability, which this model seems to have nailed down better than most. It also has the glass quality to hang with the others on the line. It would be my pick if I was considering any of the Athlon products.

How do the cross hairs line up, read on another forum multiple guys having issues with that and athlon is aware of it?

I would take a look at the new Meopta.

                        Optika.

Absolutely no issues. I’ve put about 500 rounds through the scope out to 1100 yards. Tracks perfect, great return to zero with the zero stop. And no distortion even at 30 power.

I went with the seekins Precision 34mm low Rings on a 20moa area419 Rail

I have not seen that issue on the ETR yet, but have on some of the other models. It’s one of the reasons I keep my recommendations limited to the ETR model.
