Looks like the gut lining sack plugged the hole pretty good. Doesnt seem to be any blood staining on his coat.

Byron Ferguson has a video concerning sharpening blades and he suggested using a less than razor sharp blade because surgical scalpels are super sharp to prevent hemorraging. Use a less than razor sharp blade to promote hemorraging. Doesnt seem that youve got a problem with penetration.
