    Shoot or not?

    Grayson county.
Not the biggest buck I have seen this year but only one with a drop tine so far
Hard to tell in the picture but he has a small drop coming off the opposite side
Minimal pressure. No neighbors hunting much. Protein in place. Hunt the place alone.
Let him grow or drop him if given the shot?
Drop tine might not happen next year.

If you have to ask, probably not. But if you'd be happy with him regardless of what I think, YES!

Looks big bodied, short snout and mature enough to me! Nice antlers as a bonus. I’d drop him if given the opportunity.

He looks older than 4.5 so I would say if you get the shot take it.

Trouble is that I know there are bigger deer in my area but they don’t slip up often.
Have this guy a bunch in velvet but the rut changes things big time
If he had better G2’s and 3’s I would be all over it.

If you want a low fence drop tine this is probably your once in a lifetime opportunity. He looks plenty mature.

That’s the other kicker. I already have a better deer on the wall with a bigger drop. Low fence in Cooke county.
That’s why the drop isn’t as big of a deal as it would be to most.

I think you answered your question then. Go hunt bigger bucks

I agree 100% & I’d play the odds for him next year.
