Default All My Gear Stolen

So someone broke into my unmarked unit last night and stole a massive amount of technology, but among the things was my personal Canon 5DMark4, my Sigma 150-600, Canon 70-200F4, and my Rokinon 14mm.

Stupid, stupid me for leaving it in my vehicle, but who ever thinks they would be bold enough to steal from a cop car..

So guys, insure your stuff.. I didnít and itís a complete late loss..

Incase you happen to be on Craigslist in DFW and see one, looks similar like this..

Just out of curiosity, were you using your own equipment for performing job related duties?? I assume you have been using your own equipment because it does a better job than the equipment your department can or will provide. If so, ask your managment for the department to replace your equipment; worst that can happen is they say no.

Good luck recovering your stuff. I hope you catch the thieves and chop their fingers off. Consequences for vehicle brake-inns need to go way up.

Dang Jamie that sucks man.

I agree. See if your homeownerís policy will cover it. You will still have a deductible but maybe a lesser blow.

Had a neighbor that was a Texas Ranger that left his wallet and his badge in his car, it got broken into and stolen. They found the badge and empty wallet in the neighborhood later the next day. I bet they crapped their pants when they realized what they did.

Sorry Leftridge for the loss, hope they catch them and you get your stuff back.

Sorry for your loss. Takes a special kind of stupid to be a thief.

My agenda today was to actually get all my serial numbers and go to my insurance agent. Was suppose to go last week. I'll make time today for sure.

Not much new to report, but Saturday I drove around some neighborhoods, shady, looking for any evidence that I could find, And ended up finding my hunting license and my sheriffs office ID and in the end my wallet which still had my drivers license and debit card in it. They cut my sheriffs office ID in half and at the end of the trail of paper we found a tissue covered in blood, so I guess they cut themselves and that we have their DNA. So hopefully a print can be lifted off of one or all of the IDs. Hopeful something will pop up, hopeful they will turn on that iPad.

Good luck with the recovery. With a DNA sample, you would think it will just be a matter of time before they pop up somewhere.

You should get one of those fake security cameras and a sign to put in your front yard. That should be enough to keep even the most harden criminals away, seeing how a whole police car isn't enough of a deterrent.

If you have a Home owners or renters policy you should have off premises coverage. It will be 10% of coverage B. Subject to your deductible.

Not to derail this thread, Leftridge, but what did you think about the Sigma 150-600? Was it the Contemporary version? I've got my eye on a couple used ones on ebay. Seems like nice glass for the cost.

I have both the C and the Sport. I for the third time I have bought this lens and went with the C.

I think itís a freaking great lens... Here is an image with it I took a few weeks ago.. I WILL NOT shoot it in the rain without protecting it. It has ZERO sealing so donít take the chance. If you can get the sport do that and itís WX sealed.
