I have been a fan of his for decades but this shouldnt be surprising news - he has struggled with various addictions since his early 20’s. He was clean off and on but when you get hooked that early in life it is extremely difficult to ever shake it for good. Very sad end to a remarkable career

Man I knew he smoked the s out of dope. I thought he had previous heart issues. Just figured that’s what did it. If you got that much s in you man your asking for it and he must have had serious problem

That’s probably true, but that many drugs of that sort suggests he was working the system and had multiple docs prescribing. It also suggests that abuse had created a tolerance that prevented pain relief at therapeutic levels that the average person would experience
