I painted an aluminum boat years ago and used a self etching primer/sealer. It worked great and as far as I know the paint never peeled.

I renovated a 1985 Monark 14' semi v into a duck boat. I sanded it down, inside and out, and got as much of the old paint off as possible. Then I sprayed it using an HVLP gun using Parkers Alum Duck Boat Paint. Then I spray painted a stencil pattern on top using Parkers alum spray paint. (cans) It came out great.

Did you get to paint the boat?
