I recently acquired another miller bobcat 250 and wanted to build a small compact trailer to put the machine on. I wanted it to be big enough for the highway but small enough to pull with the ranger through the brush if need be.
![]() Started off building the frame out of 3" channel iron with 3/16" tubing where the welder would bolt down. I cut down an axle that I had as well to fit the frame. Put 3/4" conduit in the frame for wiring also. ![]() I put some 1/8" diamond plate on it for the decking. ![]() ![]() Built some light boxes out of some scrap diamond plate I had. ![]() Welded up some fenders and the light boxes and put a step in between the two ![]() ![]() Made a set of bottle racks for my oxygen & acetylene bottles. ![]() ![]() Built my hose and lead racks as well then shot a little paint on it (I'd be awhile before I had time to build the tool box and removable latter rack and didn't want it to rust in the meantime) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When I got the chance to work on it again I scored/cut/bent some diamond plate for my toolbox to keep consumables in for my upcoming projects. ![]() ![]() Welded on some receiver tubes and fab'd up a pair of removable ladder racks out of 2" tubing. They are pretty light and don't plan on putting more than a 10' ladder on them. I will shoot a little paint on it and wire the lights when I get a couple of days off again. Thanks for checking it out! Last edited by MASTERS; 05-18-2017 at 02:17 PM. |

That's nice work. Very clean design.
Question about the chain bottle tie-downs: Is the chain welded on the inboard side of the rack and then tension adjusted with the nuts/bolts on the outside? |

No sir I wish I did. I've got a cutting torch, couple squares, few grinders and 4 welding machines. Before I had a torch I'd bend metal by cutting the marked line 2/3 of the way through with a 6"x .040 cutoff wheel on a metabo, then open that cut up with a hard wheel on my 4.5" grinder. Put my man paws on it till I got the correct angle then stitch up the cut. It's still the easiest way I bend sheet iron with the minimal amount of metal working tools I have, and it does not warp from the heat of the rosebud head on my torch. I've bent 3/16" down to 14ga by hand that way and it leaves the pretty broke edge on the face.

Love it! Post step-by-step pics the next time you bend something. I was going to ask if you had a brake also....very nice work.
