Pulled up to the crappie hole today. Got my crappie rod out with a 1/16th Black and chartreuse tube jig. Dropped it in 25' water. And hooked the strangest looking crappie I've ever seen! Took me a full 10 minutes to get it in on the 6lb line and ultralight. Had to dip it out, I was afraid it'd break my line . I took a pic of it. But now I can't find my cam. Hope it's not in the bottom of the river . I'll pull the floor up in the boat tomorrow and hope the cam is under there. Crappie was 20 inches long . And had the stripes running from tail to mouth in stead of top to bottom like most white crappie do. Strangest crappie I've ever seen (smh) . Fought harder than any crappie I've ever caught. Harder than sandbass too. Maybe it came from the nuclear power plant up the river?

We got a new location in the parking lot this year. Be sure to look at the map that Smart has posted before unloading and setting up. http://discussions.texasbowhunter.co...d.php?t=637563

Mike, that bundle of aluminum pans I got is sized to fit the heating racks and there's 15 pans and lids.
Also, there's 15 rolls of paper towels in that bundle.

If needed, I can also bring a couple big stainless mixin' bowls too.

I also have a pretty long roll of that orange plastic barrier fencing. Can we use that for "crowd or traffic" control?

Charlie, Not sure how we would stand the barrier fencing up since we can't drive stakes in the parking lot . Mane thing is to keep people from cutting through the work area to get to their cars behind us. We might leave a pretty good gap between Team Spiked Chicken and us so people can go through and between us. Less chance of kids or someone running through and having an accident. I think our serving tables across the front and work tables on the same sides as the gap will help prevent that. And have to cookers on the other side, and the back of our area.

You might bring one or two more bowls. Don't think we will need any more than that with mine too. Mine is just so KHo don't have to use that little half gallon green bowl hushpuppies. He can triple up and make a big batch, and be done for a bit . But we might need a beer bowl for battering fish. Bring the rest of what ya got.

We look pretty good on everything else. Looks like we lost a few teams this year. Parking area is getting bigger and bigger.

Kinda wish Smart would have put us next to Team GOF too. Been nice to have our house and yard together. To far for us to try to chase folks off the lawn.

That was every bit my intention at first, but Mary asked that the fryers be in that back bottom corner due to traffic in the upper area and it made sense... We'll see how it works out this year.

Smart, thank you for your generous offer . I think I have one of those that I bought several years ago. And it has never been used due to our magnitude of production and fish we fry. We only use containers that hold +20lbs of cornmeal/flour mix or more.

Come by and see us brother! Looking forward to it!

LOL! That's a great idea, cement mixer sounds a little faster . I'll add that to the list for next year . Wonder if everybody is good with a little extra crunch on the fish.

Gives a whole new meaning to "Rockfish".

Looking forward to meeting everybody!

You laugh but we bought a harbor freight one to mix rice bran and feed together, a little pressure washing and it'd be good to go. Never had nothing but cattle feed in it!!

Works awesome when frying a bunch. Never been used for anything but fish and very clean. Will we have access to an outlet for electricity? Looking forward to it.

The only way we would have electric is through a generator. That is what the other teams who need it do. We are good. Nothing wrong with hand battering out of a big tub . Nuff room for two people in it with out problem. I thought you were kidding about the cement mixer .

Just noticed I had ya down on the list twice for fish.
If you wanna just bring 25lbs, that should do us plenty.

I remember a couple years ago, we had over 160lbs of fish fillets. And almost a 100lbs never got close to being used.

People turnout has usually been around 200-250 the last couple of years. From the name tag thread this year, it looks like it's going to be about the same this year too. Most will just get a couple of pieces of fish and move on to the next team.

I also added in 2 large stainless mixing bowls in case we need 'em.
Have 4 bottles of propane.

10-4, I believe I got it all. Gloves are already in the truck. Gotta get some ice on the drinks when we head out.

One thing good about Bryan, they got a WalMart, a Kroger's, and an HEB if we forget something.

OK, I'm packed too... Everything is loaded except the ice and fish. Will do that this evening when I get home so I can get up, shower and jump in the truck and head out. Got a crock pot dinner social with my Bible Study class this evening... bunch of old fuddy-duddies, so I shouldn't be late to be tonight... Oh and my contribution to the crock pot dishes is a jumbo pot of crock pot pulled pork... mmmmm goooood!

...really looking forward to seeing everyone.

What a well oiled machine this team has become. As always it was a pleasure spending time with all of you. Looking forward to the next time already.

Except for this guy who has turned into a slacker and shows up late.

Looking forward to next year and I'll get there earlier if I have to leave the little woman at home to do it.

Always a good time.
It was good to meet you Mitch. You're another great addition to the team. Thanks for taking over my fryer and letting this old man rest his back.
