* * * * URGENT * * * *

For all people hunting Lake Georgetown this coming season. Applications are out and you can apply. What I am about to state I only found out after I had submitted a "group" application, then recanted it.

There is a new application rule this year!

If a group application is submitted the group is given only 1 number, each person on the application doesn't get a number. Meaning 3 people have 1 chance of getting drawn!

If you submitted a group application you have a 33% chance of getting drawn out of your application and that doesn't take into count the other 150+ applications that most likely will be submitted.

Wanted everyone to know your odds are better if you submit individually!

Nothing new they did the same two years ago then went back. Brad said it was to be more fair so they can get new hunters vs same guy every year.

I agree, just wanted to pass along the change in a person ability on getting drawn this year if they apply as a group. Your chances are not good in fact.

Your chances are the same as you applying solo 1 number is 1 number the only choice is do you want to hunt with your buddies or not.

When the team of 4 with 4 number yes your odds were better. Thats why they changed it again to be more fair to the single hunters. They should stop the groups all together and do single app only IMO.

It sucks that your group doesn't get the same number of entries as they would get as individuals. Not sure that I understand the logic behind that and why they changed it. They want more individual hunters? Seems stupid to me.
Common sense would be, during the draw, if they hit a certain number of drawn groups, then they stop drawing groups. In order words, have a bucket of entries that are "group entries" and a bucket of entries for individuals. example: 80 hunters total, 40 of those hunters should be in groups (10 groups of 4 for example) and the other 40 should be individual. Wh7y is that so hard to think of and execute? Seems a lot more fair than what they are doing now. Oh well, it's a federal regulated group, what do we expect the government to do? They never do anything that makes sense.
I disagree, they should never get rid of groups. Father Son hunts would never get to happen.

Sure they would just have to get lucky and both get drawn.

I think they are just wanting to bust up some of the groups that get to hunt every year to give new people a chance to hunt the park. Some guys have been hunting the park over tens years and counting.

Maybe they need to do away with the exemption for shooting a doe and make everyone do the draw every year. They can still require shooting a doe b4 buck to get the numbers they want. Like Granger Lake

My buddy was just 57...off pace from last year...i need to get out and put mine in.

It's nice to have last year's doe in my pocket so I don't have to worry about the draw.

Wow can't believe the numbers are so low still. I guess the smaller three person group is keeping people from applying?

My cousin and I always have gone to Archery Country in Austin. Once you get drawn, you have several weeks to go take the test. When you pass, they give you a signed certificate that you take with you to the required orientation. Georgetown is actually one of the most expensive Public hunts out there. $25 to enter, $90 permit if you get drawn, $10-$20 to take the archery test, $70 for your hunting license super combo (which I know you're going to buy anyway). But, you get to hunt there all season, it's a lot cheaper than a lease, that's for sure. Good luck.

So 65 solo and 15 teams IF all teams of 3. Key number is the 110 since only 100 spots just 10 over not too bad.

Im going Friday to add a team of 3 so we will see were we are then.

Looking at the old threads, I think the numbers will look close to the same as last year....

For the 2016 year, there were 42 exempt, so only 58 spots were drawn.
There were just about 190 total applications, but that includes the 42 exempt.
There was about 58/148, or about a 40% chance of being drawn.

How many are exempt this year of the 110 that have applied?

See my post above that was quoted from last year numbers looks lower.

Also in 2016 each team member had a number so odds for teams were greater than this year,

Unsure about exempt number.

Quote:
I got a total count from Brad Arldt. 102 total harvested. 71 does, 31 bucks.
With 71 total does, I would guess that there could be as many as 45-50 exempt.

He definitely will at the draw.... I asked when I submitted application and they would not say (due to the requirement for reapplication of the exempt).

I believe 42 different hunters killed does, but no guarantee they classified as "mature " or that they will reapply

Interesting see post 4424 he was app#80 and 110 total hunters so the number of total went down to 108?

Are they telling yall the total number or just looking over her shoulder to see the number on her roster?

That is a big last minute push! The draw will probably be sometime next week after they get any mail-in apps. Checked out old spot from last year, and all the deer looked healthy.

Since I got my Doe I'm not going to the draw and just waiting for the orientation. I work on Saturday's and cant remember if we need to show up for orientation or not.
