The unit were hunting is roadless but sets up well for truck camping. We will day hike 6-10 mile loops unless we get into elk closer than that. I don't like packing in for elk if I don't have to because when you pack in your committed to that spot. If you truck camp you can drive all the way to the other side of the unit and hunt one day if you want to. I don't mind putting on miles and my pack should be light. Under 15 pounds I'm guessing.

The outfitter isn't even out of Winston. They are out of Chama. They are just sending someone to meet me.
