One of the most enjoyable hunts I’ve done. Hunt the beaches and areas that get flooded then retreat. Don’t skimp on the fishing either.

Not as good as he Halibut and Rockfish, but still good if you hunt in the Spring.

Pretty close to my old stomping grounds. I hunted around Petersburg a few times. Try Port Houghton, I killed the one in my avatar there. Stay out of Thomas Bay & read the Strangest Story Ever Told. Good luck.

Put stalk on this guy but he was a little too small. Saw a Booner that we stalked to within 60 yards but was really rubbed up.

Great hunt! Beautiful scenery
I always enjoyed the glassing from the boat & stalk on the shore bear hunts.
The ones Iíve done were north of Juneau & then 1 brown bear hunt in your direction just off Admiralty Island

These bear use other animals as eyes and ears! Had a PERFECT one at 70 yards on the beach. We beached the boat downwind at 100 yards and approached. Didnít notice the two geese nested between us and the bear. He had positioned himself upwind of those geese! Busted!! Wanted to drill the friggin goose.

We stopped last night about 8 pm to take a potty break on shore. Heard some geese making a terrible racket on the beach in some rocks. Glassed it a saw a wolf making a move on them. We put a stalk down the beach and waited for him to come in. The dang anchored skiff starts banging against rocks where we left it about 200 yards away. The wolf hears it and hangs up. He wonít come any closer. We hit the timber line and and crawl to try to close the distance and ambush him from the tree line. Done!

My sight level burst (plane pressure?) on the way here. Guide noticed Iím torquing bow big time and my shots are off. So hit the beach to work the kinks out during lunch.

Couldnít get it done with the bow. The shot just never materialized. Had lots of stalks, but just couldnít close the deal on one that I was happy with. We covered probably a couple 100 miles in an open 17 ft skiff over the hunt. Traveling at 5 knots, 12 hrs per day. Sightings got super slow yesterday and so we ditched the skiff around 11 am, right after target practice, and probably hike another 10 miles up and down salmon inlets (no salmon yet but good grass). After connecting with the wolf, started the skiff back toward the boat and we spot the bear that slipped us with the goose alarm, almost in the same place! Wind is good, we repeat stalk. I knock an arrow at 120 yards, wind is favorable, but we run out of cover at 80 yards. Thereís about 30 yards of rocky beach and grass between water and tree line. Bears only 15 ft from tree line and slowly feeding in that direction. Thereís just open grass between us and him. No move to make. I know itís the last day of the hunt due to incoming storm, I call for my rifle, and thatís a wrap. Heís a toad with perfect hair. Would have made P&Y easily. Biggest one so far this season for my guide,

The beach I killed him on

Killed him about 9:30 pm and we got caught at low tide with little light. Would have had to drag a 300 pound bear over rocks to the skiff. So, we slid him under some logs, covered him with our jackets, sticks, branches, then peed around it. Came back at 4 :30 am high tide and rode the skiff almost right up to him. Took some pics and itís all over.
