Default 2018 saltwater fishing thread

Thought it might be cool to have a centralized thread to post up pics from recent trips, yíall patterns and such!

Had a slow trip on Saturday. We(Me and a buddy), caught 2 undersized reds(one was 19 3/4Ē, and two trout, both of which went in the box (22 1/2ishĒ and a 20Ē). All were caught using popping cork w/ a gulp and were caught in 3-4í of water over mud/shell.

I haven't fished nearly as much as I like but trout have been in thigh deep water around rocks in Baffin. As far as red fishing goes, I found a big bunch of them very shallow. Most with their backs out of the water in mud/grass. Spring winds have hampered some of my trips lately but summer/croaker season fun is right around the corner.

We caught these Friday in east matagorda. The wind was brutal but we managed some decent fish and had a great time

How about some info on gulp tactics....when gander went out of business gulp was one of the things that truly went in sale for half price. I loaded up and have used it a hand full of times... haven’t caught anything on it!!

Hey bud howís it been. When we fish Seadrift, pearl white gulp shrimp is my go to plastic. I throw it with a florocarbon leader and thatís it. Throw and reel with a quick twitch while retrieving. Works great for me

Or put it under a popping cork and work them like live shrimp. My wife's favorite rig.

Winds hopefully lay down when I’m off Monday and Tuesday. Never fails when your working it’s slick as glass. Minute you get off cold fronts or 15-20 outta south. Gotta turn in my favor sooner or later.

Probably no local salt till after chandeleur 2.0 next month

Besides the whisker fish and crappie are too hot to drive that far and I dont have to wash the boat when I get home

Matagorda has been producing some good fish lately. Run&Gun has been on several solid trout 25+ inches lately

Amen to that, the years I spent as a hunting guide almost ruined me. I was just meaning that them boys are on the water every day so they probably are catching some 25 inch fish. Which by the way, when I say "Big Girls" I'm not talking about 25 inch fish.

I'll tag along. We spend a lot of time off Bolivar near the Ferry. Was there last weekend and didn't fish much. Water looked terrible Friday and Saturday. Full moon and crazy high tides put a damper on all my normal stuff. Caught a few small reds and a nice flounder, but no trout. We typically struggle in our area until June though, so its no surprise. Would be awesome to get in touch with some guys on here and team up to stay on some fish!

This thread has got me pumped. I just bought my first boat on Friday, a G3 18ccT. Made our first trip to Choke yesterday to start the break in before we get down to the coast. On a side note my 2 1/2 year old caught his first fish. He is hooked for life and has talked about it nonstop.
