Guess it's time to duck hunt, My 2015 season

I have waited this year to post any of my kills until my season was winding down so I could put it all on one thread and try to get my video up. This has been another great year for me with me being able to kill 2 Pope and Young deer and filling the freezer with deer meat.

Before season even started I was invited but a buddy one afternoon to some property he has outside of Beaumont in China. His feeders had been overrun with hogs and I was able to take one out for him. I shot this sow with a slick trick and she didn't make it 40 yards. Was very pleased with the slick tricks as you will see in some of my other kills. I started carrying two in my quiver as I was tired of using rages on pigs last year.

A couple weeks later and it was the opener of bow season. I had a few deer on game cam that I was after but the first legal, mature deer out of the few I had on cam was going to be shot. Opening morning has me 18 feet up in an oak tree hunting a historical scrape line on one of our family properties. I was texting with my brother and another buddy and was starting to get a bit annoyed that I hadn't seen anything and they had deer around them. I guess that's the downside with game cams, you begin to expect when an animal should be there and give up on the spot. I had been in the stand about an hour and a half when I looked to my left and caught a shadow coming down a trail down the old fenceline I was hunting. When it cleared the trees I immediately recognized it as the big 9 I was hunting. He gave me a shot at 16 yards but I had to weave it through a small gap in between two trees. I hit him quartering away and he took off, a few seconds later I thought I heard a crash but at a 45 degree angle from the direction he ran. I gave him an hour and a half and we took up the trail, after a blood trail that A blind man coulda followed we found him 50 yards from the shot, the Rage had done its work. He was 7.5 years old from what we could tell, had right at a 14 inch spread and scored 136".

The following weekend was the trip me and a few buddies make each year to a family friends ranch to help clean up the herd for him. I was able to kill 4 deer with my bow and everyone else had at least 2 deer themselves, all with bows.

A few weeks later I went to one of my best friends from college ranch down in Hebbronville where I was able to kill my first double on Javalinas and was able to video another buddy arrow his first Javalina ever. We also killed about 60 quail.

Fast forward to Thanksgiving and after eating lunch, me and one of my closest hunting buddies made the 400 mile drive from Beaumont to the chupadera ranch where they have a lease. I am down there about every other weekend during the season with him helping corn and setup stands and just basic ranch upkeep. I had killed a doe or two and a handful of pigs this year with my bow down there but I hadn't seen a good deer that would qualify as a management buck that they let me shoot. When we got there we noticed that some of the older deer had already started pairing up with does. We hunted Friday morning and were on our way to fill feeders when we noticed a doe and really big bodied deer down a scendero. I had put my bow in the top drive as occasionally when the bucks are holding with a doe we do what we like to call shock and awe. This time it worked perfectly. As we were driving toward them I stood on the back of the truck and stepped off into the brush as my buddy slowly made his way past the deer he hit the feeder on the truck and kept driving. Not a minute went past and the doe came back out followed by this old boy not 30 seconds later. I drew, stepped out of the brush he turned and was quartering hard at me and I leveled my 30 yard pin onto his chest and sent the rage flying. He was down in less than 3 seconds and 20 yards. He isn't my biggest score wise but body he blew ,y best outta the water. The picture doesn't do a good job showing it but he field dressed 200 pounds was 7.5-8.5 had an 18 inch spread and scored right at 133".

I'm sure I might make a few more trips down south this season to help my buddy locate a monster he can chase with his bow but I'm perfectly content with how my season stands right now. I will try and get a video of some shots from this year, mostly all my kills with a few friends mixed in, hope y'all enjoy!

Depending on where you're hunting, I'd find something else to hunt. The duck hunting this season has been poor at best this year.
