Large Cable Spools

Saw the ad in classifieds but didn't want to clutter it up.

Had a thought about placing a cable spool in the pond and putting a platform on it for an inexpensive dock. Would a spool last any time at all?

Please don't say it's crazy, I'm also looking at a floating barrel dock, just thought I'd think outside the box some too.

Not sure. They are usually made out of pine, so if it's not pressure treated prolly not. If it is treated, you may not want it in the pond

Sorry, I meant the large metal ones like the ones in the classified. I think I've even seen some that were blue and maybe plastic, but couldn't get close enough to them. Wouldn't think of using a wooden one at all.
