Cool story. You were talking about getting the dogs out of the way because of how dangerous a wounded cat is on the ground. A vet I used to shoe for went on a ML hunt in NM years ago and the guide would only let them shoot a .22LR for that reason. He said he didn't want them knocking the cat out of the tree. They got one cat that trip and that's how they killed it, two or three shots in the head/neck with a .22LR. Crazy. Think I'd rather have the .30-30!
