Looks really weird

Transition from the deer to Texas (thats strange typing that...) is a melting blob like sika said

Why not a normal pedestal with another hide draped over the Texas and slap them both together?

Different. Never seen one like it. I might like it more if the wrinkles were gone and the plaque was lined with the Axis hide.

Not only do I not like the whole deer melting into Texas, the actual mount is hideous and not a very good axis shape/expression on the head/neck...

That's a pretty nice mount... at least it looks like a zebra's head. The axis mount doesn't even look like an axis head other than the color/cape...
