Has had my cat since December. I personally don't give a rats if it takes him 2 years to finish it. I didn't pick him on speed, I chose him on skill and talent.

Believe it or not, he has a full time job also. I know it's a pain not getting responses, but I a ton of patience when it comes to my taxidermist. Maybe to much at times.

2 years is BS! He cannot possibley be that good. Sounds to me like hes blowing smoke. Like mentioned early, take a drive over and visit. I bet he has to dig ur hide out of a freezer, and its not tanned.
hes avoiding you you for a reason.

Well all I know is that Clay Wagner has been known to have other taxidermists mount his work for him. He did this with a coyote of mine, a snake of a guy I know, and a bobcat of a friend. Hope that you're cool with that because it's a real possibility.

2 years is quite a long time. Sounds like he his good but more of a hobby thing. If you cant turn around an animal within 12-14 months then you should learn either to limit yourself or find a new hobby. I would be furious if he never called or texted back, that customer satisfaction 101. Chief you should try B & B taxidermy, I received my full pedestal mount on stand whitetail back in around 6 months.

Was that coyote a competition piece that was done at a commercial price?

It's very common for taxidermists to sub-out work. No different than the shops that have several taxidermists working in them. I don't personally know Clay so I can't speak for his practices.

"Absurd" is a strong term. But it is a long time. I'm still cranking out a few from the 2015-2016 season (1.5 years give or take) but I believe I have spoken to everyone about why (built a house and shop). Tried to explain to most before they dropped off their animals that it might take longer than usual but I'm sure I missed a few.

Carry on...

He isn't a full time taxi, its something he does because he enjoys it and its his relaxation tool. At least that's what I was told.

Has anyone here sent a link to him of this thread?

I take it that you are wanting to hear my experience with Clay and that you are being genuine so I will ignore the lol.

The facts that I did post I do know. Here are a few more facts that capture my experience:

1. My coyote was not mounted in the pose I requested verbally and in writing
2. I was not called when my coyote was completed
3. I called checking on my mount and was told that is has been done for months
4. I paid in full for the mount although it's not what was discussed
5. The mount looks great (very well could be competition piece) but is not the pose I ordered
6. Kelly Kilpatrick mounted my coyote.

There is no question that Clay is talented but there is an issue with communication and I did not receive what I requested.

why the heck cant taxie`s just be up front and tell you T H R E E YEARS ? I`ve had 3 rams at A taxidermist( not this fellow) since 2013 still not done . they all tell you the same thing 6 to 12 months ! why cant they be honest and tell you they cant get to it for YEARS ? cause they want your money !! I bought the DVD`S and watched utube and learned to do my own , not the perfect work but I'm happy with them. most give the trade a bad rep. but wait now they call themselves ARTIST go figure.
