Last Friday we were in Red River NM for a family vacation. We had driven up to Goose Lake on our ATV. When we got to the top, my wife phone started going crazy. That was when we found out my wife's niece's husband (Kris) had been killed in a vehicle accident.

Kris was an ex-marine who worked for the DOE providing security for nuclear material transports. His team had been in Arkansas for training and was on the way home to Amarillo. After passing through a construction zone near Okemah, dump truck pulled out in front of them and they hit it at speed. Kris died at the scene and all 4 other team mates in the van were severely injured. Thankfully the teams medical van was right behind them and their highly trained combat medics were able to render immediate aid. Within minutes several more of the teams vans had showed up with more medics and team mates to help. If not for that I believe there would have been more fatalities.

Kris leaves behind a wonderful wife (my wife's niece), a 6 year old daughter, and a 5 year old son. The other team members in the accident all have very serious injuries that will require many surgeries and lots of time for recovery. One in particular is still in very critical condition. The lives of all involved, and the lives of their families will never be the same again. Please, please pray for all of them. They all need prayers.

For any of you that are interested Kris will be coming home along I-40 on Thursday from OKC to Amarillo, with an escort from DPS and various other agencies. He should pass through Shamrock around 12:30 to 1:00.

In addition, these families are hurting financially as well as physically. There is a Go Fund Me page set up to help them. It will be split equally between all 5 families. They can use the help. They all have a long road ahead that will be full of unexpected expenses.

I might not be available much this week. We have been trying to help out as much as we can and have a busy week ahead of us, so forgive me if you send a message and it takes me a while to get back to you.

Interstate-40 is back open after a van crashed and caught fire, killing one person and injuring four others near Okemah.

A memorial has been scheduled for the Office of Secure Transportation crew member who died in a crash in Oklahoma last week.

Kristopher David Youngberg age 41 of Amarillo, died Friday, October 5, 2018. Memorial Services will be at 200 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Central Church of Christ in Amarillo with Mr. Allan Stranglin, senior minister officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington, TX. He was born

Nice Whitetail! Must have been a wet and muddy hunt if it was harvested on Sunday.

Main beams weren't anything too crazy. 22 inches, the G-2 were a foot long.

Thanks everyone! Not the buck I had my heart on but a mature buck that stood at 25 broadside and on the hit list. I'm happy wit him!!

Great buck. Like those picks on the flat bed.
Cowboys always told us to just hop in one and drive around, the deer are so used to them theyd hardly run off.

Well we've been getting the rain we wanted. How's the deer movement for ya'll? We haven't had a lot of mature bucks start hitting feeders yet.

Not a lot moving near Quanah. Was out this past weekend and didn't see anything mature.

Not much to add here (just south of Canadian). Haven't hunted yet though I live on my hunting land. Too warm and nothing exciting showing on cameras. Got 4 solid 3.5 yr olds and numerous 2.5 or less so the future looks good. But I've been saying that for years and the deer seem to keep disappearing at 4.5 and older. Got 5 inches of rain or so over the last 4 - 5 days. Unless something shows on camera, not sure I'll hunt til mid November. I can enjoy nature watching just as much without a bow in pop-up as I can with a bow in a pop-up. See more nature, way less pressure.

Jethro - never met but we've conversed a few times. So sorry for the tragedy. Will pray for our Lord's comfort and peace for those who need it.
