School me on lock ons

I've always used climbers and another thread sparked my attention to a lock on. I plan on getting at least one set. But which one and why? I often pack a mile in and out. Tell me what you use and how packable it is. I'm looking to get at least 16 - 20 ft. Thanks in advance
