Last minute invite equals deer of a lifetime!

Thursday at 330 in the afternoon I get a call asking if I wanted to ride up to a buddy’s ranch. Pull in late Thursday night and meet up with the crew at the ranch house. Friday morning was pretty uneventful saw lots of young deer. Friday at lunch we made a loop and this deer steps out. My buddy goes there’s you a big 8pt shoot him. I merely glanced at the horns before I made the shot. It wasn’t until we walked up on him did I realize what I just shot. The deer of many lifetimes! The ranch owner said he’ll go 200” but once we got the tape on him we were all in shock 284 7/8”. Yes this is a high fence place.
