Default Ugly Gun auction rebuild #1

I was going to wait until I completed the project but I wanted to give you a taste of what's been going on. Thorthunder donated a Mossberg Model 190, 16g. I will do my best to document its progress and what all I'm doing to it. Pics and details to follow.

The first pic shows the crack.Name: uploadfromtaptalk1325957242283.jpg

I opened the crack so I can get good, even glue coverage

With the crack glued I clamped it and set it aside for two days to cure

I then removed the bolt from the barrel

Next I broke the bolt down

Then it was time to scrub it down good. I soaked it in carb cleaner then washed it with hot soapy water. I blew it dry, sprayed the inside with RemOil the hit the outside with turtle wax.

I then stripped the barrel down. It had a little surface rust and some slight pitting so I sprayed it down with EasyOff to remove all the rust. I then washed it with hot soapy water followed by a good rub down with 2000 grit wet sand paper. I washed it again and blew it dry.

Will post more pics and details as work is performed. I did sneak out to the shop last night, removed the clamps from the stock and hit it lightly with some sandpaper. This is going to be one SWEET 16!

I had planned when I got off work last night to go home and sand the stock down. My awesome wife decided we (I) needed to prime our bathroom so she could paint it. So, after two hours of Kiltz fumes and a couple drinks I didn't think it was a good idea to do any work on it.

220 221 whatever it takes. Still following. This may be a dumb question but do you sand it with something even finer later?
