Update: Am I being unreasonable/cheap?
So after a year and a few months of system issues (worked ok in the summer) just didn't warm us up in really cold weather,,, Our AC man showed up to the house today with a new "Goodman" unit with same specifications. (He recommended a Goodman to begin with, but I opted with a Lennox due to the Name and reputation.... so I paid $500 extra to get a Lennox....
He said he's paying for the change out of pocket and he's going to switch out my old Lennox with this Goodman. He has not said anything about charging for labor yet... I doubt he will....
My question is;
I paid an extra $500 for the Lennox, I know it gave us a hard time, but shouldn't I get my $500 back since I'm getting the cheaper Goodman?
Don't you guys think he's made some sort of an arrangement with Lennox and he's really NOT "Paying out of pocket"?
I'm grateful that he's doing this, but $500 is a lot of money, specially with a small baby and a wife who still has not gone back to work after delivery...

And if you don't mind me asking, what is the name of his company?

He only changed the outside unit to a Goodman.
Inside unit is still a Lennox.
Is this ok?
