If you are worried about mileage, why are you buying a F 250 or F350?

Maybe he just curious? Maybe he is comparing stats with comparable trucks and is wanting real world numbers? Might drive a 100,000 miles a year and it factors in to costs.

If a person is that worried about costs they aren't buying a modern diesel. DEF costs, fuel, oil changes, and other higher diesel costs. If costs is a concern get a gas 3/4 ton or 1 ton. Ram makes a gas 3500 that is a towing SOB. Even seen them used for wrecker services with he super long flat bed.

He didn't say anything about a diesel. He just asked about f250 and f350. Those do come with gas motors though every one i know that has bought one says they should have got the diesel. Learn to read before you run your mouth.

I've got a '15 crew 4x4 6.7 and love it. A customer of mine just traded his '15 in on a '17 and had to show me. They're very nice inside with significantly more room (especially the back seat leg room) and offer quite a bit more bells and whistles. I don't really care for the exterior of the new Super Duty's as they look EXACTLY like a F150 with a lift kit.

Went and traded my '13 in on a new '16 tonight. the '17 are nice but if you get a 4x4 there is no reaching over the side of the bed and grabbing something. my '13 and '16 bed side comes up to about my nipple. '17 was just about even with the top of my shoulder.

Exactly! Did I say anywhere I was worried about? Have a 14 now, just wondering if they got any better. If i was worried about it, or couldn't afford it, I wouldn't buy a new one!

Typically 99% of the time when someone is asking about the new body style F250 and F350s they're speaking of the Diesel 6.7 engine. I think I've seen one thread on here where a person was looking for a gas towing rig. I don't know what got into your wheaties.

I've heard nothing but great things about the 2017's.

This is the first truck in quite a while (08-10 Super Duty is the exception) that has come out that I immediately like the body style. I plan to pick a new one up in 18-24 months once I've saved the money for the 6 door conversion (I've got a lot of kids).

KactusKiller - good looking truck

Went to visit my daughter at school today. Saw a couple in a 2017 F250 in maroon which I never like. I got real jealous in my Cummins. Sweet looking truck.

I'm also not a Ford guy, and have no experience with any 2016 and earlier, so a feature I discuss below may have been on Super Duties for years.

But in order to be able to hunt my place this fall after flying from Germany and since I no longer own a truck, I rented a 2017 F-250 6.7 XLT from Enterprise in OKC. At the time they only had either a 2016 or 2017 F-250, so I picked the new one that only had about 3300 miles on it. We had it for exactly three weeks.

The truck rode great and was quiet inside the cab at speed. The cab was very spacious throughout and I loved the carpetless floors.

Mirrors were good and I liked the power features (fold/extend), but the convex "towing" part of the mirror only manually adjusted separately from the main mirror. This bugged me. A lot.

The instrument cluster had great features, but lacked "customability", at least in the XLT, and the trailer tow/integrated brake control screen was the default everytime I started the truck. The truck can smell a trailer from 5 miles away, so why force that default screen when not hooked to a trailer. Even after reading the manual, I couldn't get it to default to, say, the digital speedo. This drove me crazy. I do like how the cluster can keep track of different trailers and accumulated mileage for each, though. Just add the trailer with a name, then select that one when you hook up.

Also, it had a permanent analog Turbo Boost gauge. I think the engineers have been reading too many diesel forums. Not saying that turbo boost isn't useful information (99% don't know how to use it anyway), but something like EGT or Tranny Temp would be much more useful.

4WD system worked well, but it was the turn-dial electronically actuated system, and I'm just an old school manual shifter kind of guy.

I really liked how Ford's TPMS system allows lower pressure in the tires (60 front/65 rear, IIRC). Not sure about GM's, but Ram's TPMS system on the 2500 has taken a rash of crap on the Cummins forums for requiring such high PSI in the tires. There's no reason to run 70+ psi when your empty, unless you like to pee blood.

The fuel tank was too small IMHO. After running as low as 10 miles DTE, I still only put in 26 gals to fill up. Mileage was disappointing as well. Most of the time I was empty and running at highway speeds on 287 (about 1600 RPM). I believe I averaged 12-13 MPG. In all fairness, the engine probably wasn't fully broken in at 3300 miles, or even 5000 miles when I returned the truck. But still. DEF mileage was fine.

The truck did great towing my travel trailer. I put it at 70 mph on cruise, and the truck had no issues keeping up and didn't hunt gears going up any inclines I encountered. Tow Haul was fabulous, but I was disappointed in the exhaust brake. It didn't feel like it slowed the truck that well but the computer seemed to manage the transmission downshifting more so than actually "braking the exhaust". Seems to be on par with what I've read about the previous years' Ford EB, but I expected it to be better for 2017.

Finally, the doors squeaked over the smallest bumps. And the lock/unlock buttons were not next to the other door controls (windows/mirrors), but were located on the door down next to your knee. This seemed odd and a pretty poor design.

Overall, I really liked the truck. Much more than I thought I would and it grew on me more and more. I am still not a fan of the front end looks though. The truck looks great from the front wheel wells on back, but that front end needs some work. Of course, some love it, and that's OK. But for me, it is...unattractive. I know this is long, but I hope this helps.
