I recently figured out the importance of looking at your histogram in the field and the advantages it gives you when you're back at home

The histogram is probably the most helpful thing on a DSLR.

Thanks man. No offense taken at all regarding the gear. Definitely understood what you meant. The images on Flickr that don't have the camera details are probably multi - image stitched panoramics so I think the data gets lost somewhere.

True what you say about being able to get good shots with "entry-level" gear. Usually the first question is "what camera do you use???" And second is "is that photoshopped?" What they don't realize is that I don't have much more than they do with their DSLR kits.

The key is to wake up earlier than they do, research photo ops, use light to your advantage, think about composition, and so much more. All those things are just as important, really more important, than gear.

Certainly good gear helps a lot. To "my stove's" credit, some of those images were taken with some nicer borrowed glass. But not "eleventy-thousand" $s worth of glass
