Default Rant !!

After spending over 2300.00 on my truck last week I took a look at the itemized bill when I got home. My truck is a 2003 dodge with a 5.9 cummins(140000 miles). They replaced the back and front brakes and the rest was on the front end. I had told them to rotate the tires since I knew they would have all of them off to do the brakes. I was ticked off when I saw where they charged me 10.00 to rotate the tires. I figured they would do it for nothing since all the tires were already off and another place in town does it for free even if you did not buy the tires from them.

I had a ford truck years ago that failed inspection due to faulty gas cap. They had one in parts for $30 something dollars and then charged me 1/4 hour labor to put it on. They already had the so called faulty one off. I hate dealerships

Most shops don't let a chance to make money get away. I'm surprised they don't ask for gratuity as well.
OK didn't specify if this was a dealer or not but common knowledge they will bend you over too without question.

Give them a chance to make it right... Call them back and ask for the $10 back. If they won’t then rant away and name the place.

Are you really crying about $2.50 per tire to rotate your tires? If a mechanic makes $30/hr that seems pretty reasonable to me.

Sounds like a question that should have been asked before the labor was performed.

Though it does reek of bull spit....

Unless the shop specifically told you they would rotate your tires for free, I seriously doubt you will find anyone here to sympathize with you on this.

Agreed. When I read it I assumed they charged $10 per tire. Hence the rant

Why’d you check the itemized bill after you payed. Should have checked it before you
Paid. And why are you squirming over $10 for a service that you requested? Geez the total bill was $2300 and $10 of it got you this worked up. Relax man....

I bought four bags of the lumber jack pellets for my traeger grill ( recommended here) they charged me 13.43 a bag, four separate charges on my card. One they rang up for 13.42 and went back the next day and charged my card .01. I get it they didn't charge me enough, but come on .01.

Not crying....I am Complaining. I have spent more than 3600.00 in the last year with them on 2 sets of tires and other things, and it isn`t a dealership. All of the tires were already off so no extra effort was required to put them back on a different wheel.

YES, I should have checked the bill better, but I had just gotten off work after a 12 hr. shift that started @ 3 a.m. I was tired and just wanted to get home.

I know it was only $10 but that is not the point. A good business practice/model would have been to say that we are not going to charge you for the rotation since we had to take them off and put them back on anyway. Especially for customers you have had for 20+ years.

What your missing is the fact that they had to pay the smartest guy in the shop to know which tires needed to be moved to front and which ones to back.

Did they balance and rotate? Either way it was 2.50 a wheel which is cheap. I kinda get your point but you must like their work so look at as a tip.

Eh.......in this day in age $10.00 ain't much especially compared to that $2300.00 bill.

Yea, they had them all off and you probably could have argued them out of it before you paid the bill but......live and learn.

Most change the itemized amount per repair reguardless of what they were already in there to do. Pizzes me off too!

This.

I would assume the mechanic doesn't get paid without an itemized description of work?

u already spent $2300. whats another $10???

what did they do to the front end? If the brakes were $300 or even $500, what did they do for $1800? just curious.

Seems a little nit picky. It’s too early for me to be good at the maths, but it’s like .0004% of your bill or something. If they charged you $100 I’d be more on your side.

I see his point. Had my front bearings replaced a few years ago. While they were under there they told me it was time for front brakes. Okay.
When I went to pay out the owner of the business noticed they charged me a hundred bucks in labor for he brake job. They had to remove all the pieces for the job they were doing anyway and he took the charge off. I had not even seen the bill.
That's the kind of integrity I hope for in a business.

All you saying $10 is nothing? What about the other way around? Why did they need to charge $10 to roll each tire 10 feet. Especially because you know the already made plenty on the other work. However I probably wouldn't get on the internet and complain. My wife however would be up there demanding her $10.
