We love ours but are planning an upgrade soon to a Grand Design 5th wheel. Airstreams are slick and we thought long and hard about getting one when we got our RW. No slide kind of killed them for us.

I have always wanted an airstream. Price just keeps us out of the game. We need a toy hauler so very limited on airstreams there too.

Loaded up, heading out later this morning. I decided to go to the beach when a cool front is hitting. Oh well, can still have fun.

For those who use their fridge, a fan does wonders. I did a test with a USB fan I had and temp dropped lower faster. I'm going to put a couple computers fan in the fridge permanently and a couple to exhaust heat from the back.

In for this one...

I just got on a new lease near Roosevelt/Junction. Needing a camper. And we like to camp outside of deer season too. So we are finally going to stop tent camping and get a travel trailer.
I am really looking for a
1. Forest River Cherokee 294BH or
2. Cruiser MPG 3100BH
or something very similar.

Read through this entire thread. - Someday I will get a real camper.

Here is my current off the grid homemade pop up... Primitive by the standard you guys set.
Great for 1-2 night stay on the move.

On the flip side I have no issues pulling.

We bought a palomino puma 31bhss last month and those steps were already on it. They are awesome.
Also we replaced the factory shower head with a oxygenics head and made a world of difference.

Made the trip to Buckhorn Resort outside of Kerrville. Nice place! Daughter and wife really enjoyed it. Ellie(daughter) cried when it was time to leave. They get you stacked in there but facilities were top notch. This was just our second time to rv. Lots to learn!

This is my second RV, but first that is going to be used for towing. The other is a jayco sitting at the deer lease and that is where is will stay.
Looked around Texas trying to find a better deal on the forest river vibe 287QBS and could not find it. I ended up at berryland campers in LA this past weekend to sign the paper work. They were top notch with their reception and the buying process and service.
Decided on this model for combination of the full aluminum frame, floor plan, and bunk room layout with lots of floor space.

We started out tent camping and loved it. Rigged up a window unit so we could sleep comfortably. From there I got a POS old popup off Craigslist, remodeled it and traveled all over the south before purchasing the RV we have now. There is nothing wrong with your setup at all...actually pretty smart and slick. Gets you off the ground and keeps you dry. I dig it!

We werenít happy with the shades I. The camper. Too bright for the kiddo to nap during the day and pretty bright in the early morning as well. Searched online but didnít want to hundreds of dollars or see silver reflective from the outside. Also wanted to be able to see out a bit. $30 for two rolls of solar screen at Home Depot and I think we are set. Used finishing washer and some off the frame screws. Cut to fit once installed. Doesnít look to impressive but should be about right in the bright sun.

I apologize if this has been asked, but I have a 2004 Yukon Denali with 6.0, it says it will pull 8000lbs but I don't want anything that big, especially since the truck has 125k miles on it.

What's the biggest you guys would pull with this truck? Ideally we would like something with bunk beds and a shower.

What it will tow and what it should tow are different. Open up the driver side door it will tell you a weight of the cargo that can go in vehicle. So then add up weight of people and other cargo you will normally have in vehicle and subtract that from the number inside door. The remaining weight is how much the tongue weight of the trailer can be. Use 10-12% of the loaded weight of the trailer.
My truck will haul 2170 lbs of cargo.
Passengers, camping equipment ect roughly 600 lbs.
I have 1570 lbs of available cargo weight left.
Trailer weighs 9,900 lbs loaded. 10-12% of that should be tongue weight. So subtract another 1188 lbs.
I have 382 lbs of weight left for cargo.
You will find if folks go by thank weight that the truck is advertised to pull alot of trailers are too big.
I'm sure there is a fudge factor built into the available cargo weight but I don't try to overload by a wide margin.

No updates in a while from anyone. We spent a weekend in New Braunfels in early June but didn't get any good pictures. Finally got the RV to the point of just being ready to roll. I did build a small cabinet with a counter top for the coffee pot. Taking it back to the dealer tomorrow to finally get the fuel tank fixed. Forest River took a while to figure out the fix. Probably wont get it back out until the fall. It's dang hot around Texas at the moment. Anyone camped around Ft. Davis?

Our RV has lived at Seadrift for the past six months. As of late all we have done is fish and not any traveling. We will be heading to Big Bend this Autumn though.

We have camped at Ft. Davis and really enjoyed it. Check out the McDonald Observatory! Also, every day we had a BUNCH of javiís invade our campsite to rummage through the fire pit for leftovers.

Hopefully the dealer will get your rig in and out with no more issues!!!

Second week of June we took off for Estes Park Colorado. Stayed one night in Trinidad on the way up. We had made reservations to stay at Riverview RV park in Loveland which was a short very nice drive from Estes Park. Our site backed right up to the river, my son would fish while I was cooking dinner in the evenings. We had a blast. Fisinf, hiking, finding a hidden waterfall, picnic on the hikes, buffalo ranch, we are definitely ready to go back. If we can find somewhere open next weekend we will take a short trip to Timberon or Ruidoso. September I will be headed back to Colorado for Elk, and October I will head to Utah for Elk.

I hauled the camper to Lake Hawkins Tuesday after work. It’s only 25 minuets from home so I’m driving back to work every day while kids stay and swim with grandparents who are camping there as well. Will stay through Sunday. Awesome white sand beach and clean lake with awesome fireworks too.

Good spot booked in Destin a few weeks ago. About waited too long. Missed the one we typically get in ft Walton had to go just east of Destin this time. I’ll put new tires on when I get back this next week. These factory Bangkok knockoffs are 2.5 years old and scare the &$&% out of me. I LIKE GOOD TIRES

Lol. You can’t give away a used mattress. But people gladly offer to pay $60-$500 a night to sleep on one that God only knows what happened on.

We lost our Sandpiper bunkhouse to Harvey and didn't really plan to get another but changed our mind last week and picked up a new 2018 Columbus 377mb. Really like the layout and the finish and accessories are much nicer than the Sandpiper. We've had an RV of some sort for 22 years, really enjoy the freedom and our grown children like going with us, they couldn't believe we waited this long to replace after Harvey.

Well, we have had everything and nothing going on for the better part of a year now. Only a couple short trips towing the RV and none have been post worthy but all of that should be changing soon.

We sold one of our boats this past weekend and are using those funds to make improvements to our coastal retreat. A driveway is to be installed over the next two weeks so I will no longer be creating a quagmire in the yard and a RV cover will be installed shortly thereafter. My bride did not want to upgrade RVís until these two things were done.

In mid October we will be heading out to Big Bend for a week in our Rockwood. After we return the plan is to trade her in and get a Grand Design Reflection 5er. We shall see...

BTW, yíall have some awesome rigs and have been going to some beautiful places! Would anyone be interested in a TBH RV weekend meet up?

Default New RV

2018 Forest River Vibe 308 BHS
bought it 2 weeks ago on Friday morning. We were camping at Lake Texana on Friday afternoon. We love it.
Putting the F-150 ecoboost to the test pulling it, but it has been fine so far. The weight distribution hitch makes pulling this beast possible.
It will be at the deer lease From October till January. That 5 hour trip up there will be the real test pulling the 7,300# 26'9" trailer through the hill country to our lease near Roosevelt West of Junction, getting 9mpg.
I will be adding helper springs or air bags to the truck before then.
HAPPY CAMPING EVERYONE!

Entire driveway is pavers. Landscape is very nice. Extremely clean, but packed in.. which donít bother me in this situation. Lots of people checking out now so Iíll get pics when I donít look like a creeper. Several rigs probably +\- $750k

Every spot has concrete tables and benches. Beach was about a 200 yard walk tops. Closer than last resort and I thought it was close. Gated entry beach with chairs and umbrella already set up for rent.... affordable. Ice on site with ďparty roomĒ for birthday or whatever free to guest and game room

Concrete and pavers sure sounds a lot better set up than the four days we just spent at Surfside (Tx).
Sand up to my mat = a lot of sand in the trailer.

We battled the sand and will be for sometime Iím sure.

Water was really green for Galveston

and I even managed to pluck me some dinner from the surf.

That Destin place sure looks nice, I might have to look it up if we ever head that way.

Bought mine new in 2013. They had to fix something before we left and after that it has never been in the shop. Got a few things that I need to fix this year but nothing major and other than the canopy should be fairly easy to fix.
