Default What to expect to pay for a new truck?

I’ve seen threads of folks talkin about this before.
If Im in the market for a new Ram 2500 or Chevrolet 2500, either with a diesel.

What percentage of MSRP should I expect to pay?

I see what you did there. What is it 25% off sticker.

Having just bought a new 4Runner for the wife I can tell you that isn’t true.

Shop Blue Bonnet Dodge, Platinum Dodge, and the one way up North. That will give you an idea of the best price. Then get a local dealer to try to match internet prices.

This. I bought my '19 Duramax 4wd with dealer lift package for $57-58k and sticker was about $71k. Turned out to one of the worst trucks I've owned besides a Ram 2500 that I had. I only kept it 8 months because it had so many problems. I always expect about 20% off of sticker and almost always get it... except on Toyota

Now is not a good time to buy. Inventories are low. I don’t know what incentives are out there either.

In normal times 15-18% off domestics are a reasonable expectation including good incentives.

I gave up. Two solid months, multiple dealers. Not a single one was willing to deal. 4K off msrp was the best deal I got on a 2500. They had limited inventory and no reason to haggle because someone who needs one has limited options. I refuse to pay those prices and finding a low miles used one was just as bad. I’ll try again next year and maybe it will be better. Good luck.

Now is a terrible time to buy. They are not budging on prices. I refuse to pay 6-7k more than typical just due to the timing. Waiting it out in hopes things change.

For sure! I started shopping at the end of May. Waited a little too long on a couple of vehicles, then within 30 days those same trucks were 6-7k more. I went and test drove a new F350 a few weeks ago and they offered 1500 off a 60k sticker. And this wasnt even an xlt trim, it was an sxt.

Currently be happy with anything off MSRP. Dealers really aren’t negotiating much at all. Typically 10% is a typical decent deal on a newer 3/4+ diesel with 15% being excellent.

I’m looking for a new half ton. Got 2 quotes from two separate dealers...16k off of sticker. I’m waiting until November when i get my bonus. I’m almost tempted to wait until December.

Just did the math, Im getting 30% off.

I looked at new trucks 4 years ago, for the first time in 10 years. I couldn't believe the prices. I looked again at the end of the year last year when they are supposed to be discounted. Again I couldn't believe the prices and thought I should have bought one 4 years ago!
Not that I can't afford it but I have come to the realization that I will never buy a brand new vehicle.

Have you been to a dealership lately ? Inventory everywhere is low. Production was cut bad because of Corona. I bought a loaded 1500 RST 4x4 For 47, in feb 19. They bought it back two months ago for 44. Sold it again for 46, different dealer. It was gone in a week.

It leaked.

Got a company truck. Didn’t need all the bills with it for now.

When I’m forced to buy another I’ll get a tundra if they have a v8 in the new model. If not I guess a f150.

Last year at this time it seemed like the Rams were running 12-15% off MSRP pretty regularly if you looked. Now it seems to be significantly less. Lone Star and Big Horns are listed at 55-58 whereas last year it was 50-53.

Thankfully I have FCA Affiliate Rewards program if I decide Ram. I think that price is typically 13-14% off. If I decide on a Ram I’ll try to negotiate more on the trade in before letting them know about the FCA program.

Around here the CTD Rams are going for 5-7k off off sticker.

Looks like Dennis Dillion is 8-9k or so off sticker. I always check them as a yardstick.

I just bought a new F250 and they did not deal much at all. Every dealer is trying to hold firm to the "internet price due to a lack of inventory". They came down 1K off the bs internet price and they fudged my POS Tundra trade by giving me another $1,500. I needed wheels so couldn't hold out till all this covid crap is over.

Dad just bought a F250 at internet price pretty much. Due to the RV/boat craze and low inventory Ford isn't budging on pricing.

Right now I'd guess you're NOT gonna get more than 10% off msrp on any brand HD truck.
