    For the machinists......this is fun

NOT! I have to make 6 parts that are pretty simple except...... 2 diameters have +/-.0001 and the parts are made out of Chrome Molly. Yeehaw.

Post the blue print. You should be able to hold that tolerance all day long.

I'll get fired if I post it. I do this kind of stuff all the time. Chrome Molly sucks though. My other lathe is cutting an oval that is +0/-.0005 each direction.

Can't you just cnc it? That's what they're for right?

4130 is common, machinability could depend on whether it's annealed or not

I am on CNC and it still sucks. Got 1 down. 5 to go.

Why aren’t they rough turning and grinding?

Everyone thinks all parts are easy in the “magic box” lol

Comes with a reference temperature at time of inspection correct?

Which would you rather? Chrome Molly or aluminum bronze?

The ones saying it should be easy must be the engineers that drew the prints....
