Mark,
Many years ago I built a lot of recurves and in trying to achieve the ultimate design I had several blowup very similar. Had glue failures, glass failures and even core failures. Had one 68#'er break right at release, the top limb flew over my shoulder but, the bottom limb came up and into my shin. skinned it right to the bone!
Glad it didn't hit you... - how's the hearing now?

More aware of the ringing, not for sure if it was there before LOL, but being whopped like that makes ya more aware of things that's for sure. Ring finger is still a tad numb on the pinky side
Yep, it's all part of the game, but something about it blown up makes ya want to "beat it More" than ever.
I looked closer at the glass, looks like no weave in the glass, just a straight across fracture, glass, taper, parallels
Back to the press...... arm isn't that purple color any more, no whelp. So, I'm good to go.... "Just one more time" hehehehee
I wish it would of blown the first one or two shots, it waited till the 10th or so before it went so I was feeling comfortable with shooting it.
Now I gotta get out of the shooters flinch mode.....Last edited by Greywolf in Hawaii; 04-27-2012, 05:32 PM.

Had a bamboo backed/Osage bow break in the middle of the top limb just drawing it back right after bracing it. It was about a month old. Sounded like a fire cracker going off right by my ear. Took awhile to feel comfortable drawing all my bows back. I was wondering if anyone gets hurt when that happens. From the posts I see that they do.

That is the second bow I had blow on me, the first was a 2 piece longbow I built with the TakeDown steel D sleeve. It broke across the shelf down towards the throat, it was jagged big time... the string stayed attached and it whipped out and snapped back gouging me in the side. I have a small set of scars where it jabbed me.
