Not sure the president had that into at the time of his comments. It would be nice if we could keep this thread about the prayers for the students, their families and friends during this very sad time.

There have been way too many shootings by folks with serious mental issues. My prayers are to the those hurting because of this senseless incident.

This is an act of terrorism, point blank! But not on "his" watch right. Here we go again with the stricter gun law talk. Yea, that'll help, look how unblemished the crime rate is in Chicago. Us Christians are under attack, by the current administration, the media and other nations that are aligned with the "band wagon". God bless these families that have lost their loved ones. We're praying for ya'll.

Obama had one thing right. prayers aren't enough.

There is about to be a very big push for gun control based on this shooting. I agree it's very sad, but avoiding talk about the rights of gun owners isn't going to do anything for the fight that's coming down the road.

Instead talking the ineffectiveness of gun control RIGHT NOW and talk about facts in "gun free" zones, and lack of enforcement for existing laws is what needs to be talked about.

PRAYERS UP!

I think its awful to politicize this event with an agenda, whether that be our side pushing for less carry restrictions or their side of take guns away from law abiding citizens. However, I will never understand the pitch of pass another law to protect us from the law breaking citizens. Guns are to easy to acquire illegally and/or to make at home to remove them from the people that want to use them to do harm to others. This was a gun free zone, did he follow that law, NO. So why would we expect he would follow another gun law. The security guard only had a can of mace. No weapons on that campus except his. To me that does not spell safety. If no guns evil people will use any sharp or blunt instrument that can be found. Evil people will always find a way to do their best to harm others, this is the very reason we should be allowed to protect ourselves!

If just one of those students had been armed lives would have been saved.

Our Terrorist in Chief will now use this as an opportunity to strip our rights and freedoms from us rather than calling this out as an act of terror.

Ask any of those students involved if they had a choice to run to a Gun Free Zone or a Zone with CC was allowed, which they would have rather been in.

Its simple math.

Prayers sent.
Obama made his typical little anti-anything-common-sense speech while surrounded by men with guns with a sole purpose of protecting him and his vacation taking family.

i don't know the answer, and it may not be available, but i am setting the over/under for mass shooters having a history of adhd/bipolar med use at 98%. i will take the over. and the percentage of children being medically destroyed by the over-diagnosis/over treatment is still rising. the good news in all this is the big pharma profits are doing great, in part due to this phenomenon.

Prayers semt.

I was at a small event hosted by the family who's property I hunt. They had a guest speaker who founded WebMD, a man who legally immigrated from Iran in the 70s.

On a recent trip to Iran his family wanted to know how he felt safe for his family here lining in the USA and kids getting short all the tine in schools.

It's an example of the main stream media and how we"re portrayed.

Speaking of "not on his watch". from 2009 to 2011 Mental Health budget was cut by $4 billion dollars.

I believe their is a direct correlation to mental heath issues and these senseless shootings.

Putting aside for a moment that Oregon does not issue “concealed weapons permits,” this school just like every other public school in the state, has NO authority to forbid a person with a concealed handgun license from entering school property. While both Oregon and Federal law forbid people from being on school property with firearms, concealed handgun license holders are exempt from both laws. Oregon statute 166.370 forbids firearms in “public buildings” which schools are, but subsection B says“this section does not apply to:… (d) A person who is licensed under ORS 166.291 and 166.292 to carry a concealed handgun.” As we have said elsewhere, if you have a chl you may carry unto public school property.

Umpqua Community College is a posted Gun Free Zone but allows concealed carry under Oregon law.
The college security page states the following:
Quote:
“Possession, use, or threatened use of firearms (including but not limited to BB guns, air guns, water pistols, and paint guns) ammunition, explosives, dangerous chemicals, or any other objects as weapons on college property, except as expressly authorized by law or college regulations, is prohibited.

Possession of knives with a blade longer than 4” is prohibited.

Brandishing weapons is prohibited.

Misuse of personal defensive weapons – e.g., pepper spray, etc. is prohibited. The owner is responsible and accountable for any misuse of these devices.”

You know, you're absolutely right! That's the look the all seem to have.

The President is calling for "sensible gun laws". With thousands ready on the books, the 2 needed are "all concealed carry permits are shall-issue in a prompt and expedited manner" and "outllawing so-called gun-free zones"
