if you are comparing their premium offerings, I would choose Leopold. For their mid-tier stuff, its honestly a wash IMO.

The VX-5HD are hard to beat if you ask me. Their vx6 line is also very nice. Here lately Id go Leupold.

Which one of the scopes are we trying to compare?

A crossfire to a rifleman or a razor to a mark 6?

I have a couple mid range vortex scopes and are extremely pleased with them. Seems there is more bang for your buck with Vortex. if money is no object then most places that sell scopes will let you look through them. So you can compare.

I have a Vortex Viper 4-16x50 and a Leupold VX3i 6.5-20x50 and have zero complaints on either one of mine.
Even while looking through the lower end Leupold models, they impressed me with the clarity.

Vortex. They have a lifetime no questions asked warranty. It could burn up in a house fire and they will replace it

Leupold has the gold ring warranty. And I've had vortex vipers brand new not work right out of the box but every Leupold I've treated like crap and works great

Leupold.

My self and a buddy jumped on the Vortex train for awhile. But we have both decided that Leupold is the better of the 2. Vortex is still good quality, however.

I think I've owned just about every Vortex scope in the $200-1100 and some of those twice. I currently have either Leupold or Zeiss on all my rifles and do not own a Vortex.

I have only owned one Vortex and it was a Diamondback so it was on the lower end. It seemed to be on par with the optics on my Leupold rifleman, but I liked the finish and feel of the Leupold better.

I have never used any of the higher end Vortex.

My feed pickup burnt up, my leupolds binos were in there along with my wife's vortexs, had a new pair of vortex in the mail the next week, leupold told me, they didn't claim for their products to be fire proof, an that wasn't covered under warranty, they were sorry an they were not going to replace them. For that reason only vortex has my vote.

But how often are your binoís going to catch fire?

This is one of those rare circumstances. Iíll take the very slight gamble on quality with Leupold any day. My experience with Vortex has been less than par. Not customer service wise but performance wise when compared to a comparable price range scope of others. From what Iíve gathered, they focus on bang for the buck with all the extras on a scope vs glass quality.

Leupold all day

Ever notice how many people have a story about using the famed Vortex warranty? Kinda makes you wonder about a brand that has that much trouble with their products. They had better have good customer service because you WILL need to use it.

Vortex - an American-owned company sells riflescopes that have been manufactured overseas.

Razor HD scopes are manufactured in Japan
Vipers are made in Philippines
Diamondbacks are made in Philippines made as well
Crossfire scopes are produced in China

Iíll stick with Leupold since they are made in the USA and have never let me down

I've had both but only own Leupold now. Even with the lighted reticle, the Vortex couldn't hold a candle to my Leupold with the heavy duplex for night hunting feral hogs.

Leupold has provided the best customer service I have ever received. They replaced a broken scope (my fault and admitted what happened) with a brand new scope. I was completely in shock when they said the new one was on the way
