Max Magee. He was a partner in the ChiChi restaurant chain. And McGee founded the Max McGee National Research Center for Juvenile Diabetes.

He told the story of his catch while hungover a number of years ago at a White Oak reunion of all former NFLers. He truly was hung over from breaking curfew the night before the game and staying out partying until 6:30 am. He left his helmet in the locker room, not planning on playing because he was in the twilight of his career. He told Boyd Dowler to not get hurt because he was in no shape to play! Dowler went down on the 3rd series and McGee had to borrow a lineman's helmet to get on the field. He went on to score the first touchdown in the first superbowl and catch 7 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns...unconcious!

Here is a good story of it...a little long.

The best part about Max McGee's Super Bowl I hangover story is that it’s all true. But it’s not all there is.

He fell off his roof cleaning the leaves off and died!
