    Similar subject but I recently bought a place on the Brazos river in Brazos county and the older gentleman that owns a house and land adjacent to me tells me that in the 70 or 80s in an intense drought that he regularly saw javelinas on the property along the river. The man hunted south Texas and is intelligent so he laughed when I asked if he wasn't sure they were pigs, he said no doubt about it.

                  Yep. My mom has a breeding pair or two in Burton. We just bought a place in New Ulm and have seen one there already. It is rare to see them this far east, but hopefully that population will grow some as they're fun to watch.
