              Cool thread!
We've built about 6 of these food-grade barrel feeders over the years. A few got left out in Leakey, but we still have two in Comfort.

50 gal plastic food barrels, winch/cable set up to hang from trees. I usually don't put more than 350 lbs in them, but they will hold just over 400 lbs of corn.

Had a full one break loose from the pulley that was attached to the tree limb once (too small a chain)... The timer/spinner was NOT salvageable! We use 3/16" cable & 800 lb-rated pulleys now and haven't had an issue.

A few of the better ones I have built.

Since going to EMT conduit on the solar panel wiring, I have not had a single problem with coons & solar panels.

There is no varmint cage because we don't have pigs on that place, and the eliminator plate keeps the coons at bay. I built 2 of those stand & fills, and they have been out for 2 years with no problems.

A couple I have done recently. I am almost completely out of the winching/climbing business for filling my feeders.

It's been so long since I built a new feeder, I don't even have pics anymore...

We've got 6 or 7 like this. We started with 85 gallon barrels and made custom heavy lids and leg buckets, and added stiffeners inside.

This is a 1400lb one I built to feed both corn and protein at the same time.

I would say that's a positive, ha sounds like you make a goo feeder.
