Why would I need a better dog if he found the blood?

Because there is good blood and the dog didn't find the deer. Huge difference between a dog and a GOOD dog. That deer is most likely a catchable deer. Looks like a low hit so should give plenty of sign for the dog.

I dont think forward as thats mostly brisket. Maybe a touch back liver? Let us know when yiu find him good luck. Go to water as someone said above and be careful tracking

Yep. Not all dogs are created equal. Get an experienced tracker out there and get it over with!
