The buck I'm hunting is blind in his left eye and his front feet have gone flat. I think he's 9 but I've never seen him on the hoof, nor has anybody else, except on camera at this one feeder the past 4+ years. With the recent rains, I will stop filling his buffet soon and I don't have a blind established there yet, so he's gonna be hard to find. His feet have sealed his fate. Either I kill him or he'll likely die in the brush.

The other buck is "Curly". We've been watching him for about 6 years. At 4, he was an 8 with tall curved 2's and 3's. That year he almost got shot under the 4 year old 8 model but I saved him because of his tines and look. He has been a 9pt since with the same look and I kept hoping he'd be a 10. At 10 years old, he's finally matched and added mass and a kicker. The dice roll paid off with this one!

Well good luck, sounds like it'll be a hunt to remember!!

And it's crazy what a deer can do, we try and let the big framed 8s go also until they hit a certain age and we know what all the, but that one is a success story and makes you wonder! Good luck to all!

Up... where are the STX updates...? I've had a couple of uneventful hunts but at least the ranches look great right now due to recent rain.

Haven't been able to access my lease. 21" of rain made the Nueces mad evidently! Going down this coming weekend to access the situation. Hopefully its not too bad.

Deer movement has been cut in half with all the green from the recent rains. We hunted stayed at the ranch to hunt the front that came thru Sunday. We had a couple of cull bucks shot and 1 buck that scored 168 with over 41" of mass. Still waiting for our better buck's to move. Good luck to everyone.

Wow. Great bucks. I'm looking forward to my 4th annual Ashley Memorial hunt this year in Dimmit Co. near Dilley. Always a great time in the brush. Should start getting pics soon. I'm being told hunting has been s-l-o-wwwww!!

Great bucks Rattler! I had a visit from one of our resident bucks on the family place. Glad to see he made it 4yr this year and he put on some impressive horn from last yr. I'm idle this weekend but will hunt the following 2. Good luck all.

We had 2 of our 4 year olds final show up in daylight. I video'd both this past weekend. Thor is a main frame 9pt with a split G3 on his left side. Tank is a mainframe 10pt with nice Mass. Both will get a pass until 7-1/2 so it will be interesting to see hair they develop over the next few years. I did see one of our older buck's this weekend. He is a mainframe 10pt that is around 145+. He is 8-1/2 yrs old and we need him to go this year. IF anyone is interested PM me an maybe we can make a deal. This old boy is probably 260 on the hoof and will probably win one of the heavyweight division's at Los Cazadores. He should with all the protein and cottonseed he has eaten over the years.

Iíve only hunted twice so far, bucks just donít want to come out when Iím there. I think this weekend Iím going to hunt Deer in the morning on one lease and target hogs and nilgai on another lease in the evening. Trying to keep the pressure low on the Deer until rifle season opens up.

Anyone heading down this weekend? I'll be heading down Thursday, working in the area Friday and then back filling the last couple of feeders that evening. I'm just glad it's finally here and I at least will get to sit in the blind a couple of hours and work between hunts!

Thatís one thing I havenít done yet, I need to bust out the road feeder this weekend and dump some corn in the road. Probably will put out two-three bags while filling water this weekend.

It was amazing. They actually stayed the entire hunt. A lot of times when it's so green, I have what I call the curious feeders. They hit the road corn for 2 or 3 minutes and head back to the brush. That was not the case last weekend. I'm sure the weather helped

There isnít much greenery down here this year and even last year. But the deer always feel comfortable in the road more than standing under the feeder. Iím gonna lay it down thick this weekend and angle my cameras to the road while still being able to see the feeders.

On our lease in linn itís not green, nothing really grows most of the year, very very sandy. However on our lease a little farther south itís green everywhere

Deer movement on the slower end with this hot weather in Duval county. Pigs moving all times of the day. Shot one at 11 last night and another this morning. Biggest deer seen was this young 9, but he hauled butt when he saw the dead pig near the feeder. Everything hitting road corn pretty good.

Chip shot on a doe Friday evening was low and I missed.

Sat AM I didn't see a single deer. It was 95* at 4:30 Sat evening so I packed up and came home.

He scored 164 7/8. He was 9, weighed 243, and had his best antlers of his life. He was damaged in velvet at 7 and down a lot last year at 8.

It was my buddyís year in the rotation and he started asking about ďCurlyĒ last year. I told him if he wanted to call a buck, he was a good one to watch. When the tc pics started coming in, he was ecstatic. We had our score guesses but all agreed that it didnít matter what he scored, he would be an old beautiful buck to get with a bow.

We started looking for him in early September. He eluded us until last week, but he wasnít at his historical home. We had already set up a new Krivo where we expected to see him. Luckily we had another Krivo and set it up that day with a ghillie cover and brush. Curly was broadside at 15 yards the next morning but was bumped by another buck as Chris drew his bow. Tuesday afternoon he never came within 80 yards. Wednesday morning, Chris double lunged him at 16 yards.

high fence or low fence? That's a beast. Saw 3 super nice 3.5 yr old bucks one has real wide horns like yours. Then some younger ones and tons of doe.

Also near dilley east of it a bit.

We shot three good ones at our ranch in Webb county this weekend.187-6/8
155-6/8
We havnít scored this one yet. Bucks are starting to figure out their pecking order for the rut. We still have some cull bucks and management Deer to get rid of before rut with our MLD lowfence tags. We have several good bucks that are still nocturnal. Hopefully they show up soon. Nothing like the south Texas brush country. Good luck to everyone. Bring on the rut!

Awesome bucks Rattler! I hunted both Webb and Zapata this weekend and definitely experienced an increase in mature buck movement. Bucks seem to be on the move if they arenít the dominant buck at their usual hangouts. The result of that yielded me a 7yr old on our hit-list that lives in my neighboring pasture but came my way Saturday morning. He was the dominant buck that morning and pushed 5 other bucks around so I gave him a carbon injection! Name: IMG_5879.jpg

They were startin the chase last weekend near Dilley. Also seeing more lone doe/bucks instead of always in groups. Though I am still seeing some groups on my wireless camera.

This big guy showed up also. He doesn't live here so he's definitely here for the ladies.
