Default New toy for Christmas!!

Well for the second time, I have become a boat owner. I have been hitting the lake a bit more on my kayak, so when a good deal popped up on a used boat, I jumped on it. Actually, I told my wife about it, she handed me a check, and told me to go get it. This is my first bass boat, I had a small offshore boat years ago.

It is a 1987 20ft Champion with a 1999 200hp Mecury. The hull & body is in great condition. It probably could use some new carpet. If definitely needs some new electronics. I would like something a little bigger, but I have a Helix 5 with side imaging for my kayak. I thought about just buying another transducer and using it for a while.

Probably since it is so close, but I really like Lake Houston also.

I have a few place to catch bass on Conroe, but I need a place to catch some Catfish & Crappie so I can take my dad

It has set up for about a year, but it fired right up. I think I'm going to siphon all the gas out and put some fresh fuel in it before I run it any longer. I might make a trip to Buccees in Waller and pick up some ethanol free gas

Nice rig. Two things to know if you are a first time boat owner:

1. The best two days of a boat owner's life is 1. The day you buy it and 2. The day you sell it.
2. BOAT is an acronym for B reak O ut A nother T housand.

Best of luck.

Doug

Gibbons Creek Reservoir up between huntsville and college station has great catfish and from what i heard, lots of crappie. Decent bass lake.

Also has Tilapia

Congrats on a nice boat.

Since it sat up and is new to you I would replace the impeller, change the lower unit oil and make sure the seal is good. Might want to put a good gas filter in too.

This is one of the most over used and inaccurate post made on the green screen and someone (probably you) says it on every boat thread.

Congrats OP, lots of good memories to come!

Actually, i thought about using the " Best Day of My Life" in the title for this thread. I'm a second time boat owner, so I'm fully aware

Congrats! Looks like a solid purchase. Gas and lunch on me! I live on Lake Houston but have never fished it. Hear the catfishing is great but not sure about bass.

Gotta love those smaller champions. Hull handles chop like a longer boat. Should run like a scalded ape with that 200
