Default Slinky's on the feeder legs! No more Coons!

Well credit for the idea goes to Skinny. He was inspired based on a thread he saw from Smart. Anywho, I have the cheap, premade, wire cage around my feeder motor. The coons keep bending the wires and reach in to spin the plate. The cage only manages to slow them down a bit. Every time I go to out corn in my feeder the cage wires are stretched and bent out of shape again. Hence the fix! On 6-23-17 I bought 3 slinky's for about $3 each and attached them to my feeder legs. I haven't had a coon touch my cage since. They were hitting the cage nightly before the slinky's. For $9 I don't think you will find a better solution. They may eventually figure it out, but for now it's working.

There you go! Same results here! As far as I can tell, coons do not like to touch the slinky....at all!!!!

Well I was really hoping to get some hilarious video, but since I've installed them the coons touch the slinky and run away. When they grab it the whole slinky moves and they just don't like it. I'm still hoping a brave one will show up and give it the ole college try

I should say, I've only seen one coon even touch it. The others look at it and don't even attempt to climb the feeder leg. This is a feeder that was being hit by then every night.

I did buy my slinky's from Walmart. $9 to keep coons off the corn. All these years we've been over thinking it.

For anyone that is having coon issues and you don't want to pay $25-$70 or more trying to keep them off your spinner plate.

This idea has been around for a while. Don't see why it won't work on coons.

Default Slinky's on the feeder legs! No more Coons!

I got impatient waiting for the video so I installed a $35 eliminator last week and due to my feeder design it was not that easy. Wish I had waited cause the slinkys are cheap and look like more fun.

I have to admit I looked for 10 minutes in Walmart trying to find them. I had to eventually ask someone for help finding the Slinky's. They gave me a funny look and said they didn't even know Slinky's were still being made

We did manage to find them on the bottom shelf in the toy section.

Well frank. I guess I'm gonna have to pick up some Slinkys in San Angelo for my directional feeder since I'm headed out today and my feeder is low. I'm assuming you just zip tie the top side AC? I guess its worth a shot for $12

Where does a fella get slinkys these days? Walmart? Dollar store? I need 4.

I went to check the feeder yesterday, it was pretty muddy so I jumped into my Tonka Truck and pushed right through it.

I saw your Tonka Truck comment and thought I had been had and then realized he was talking about location when I found the Walmart deal further up.

I searched on their website and didn't find anything. I'm leaving here in a bit so I have several to go through if they do. Walmart is such a PITA to go to and I don't want to leave a truck full of deer lease tools easily accessible for long.

I go 35 to 20. Thanks for the offer though!

Looks like Dollar General carries a knockoff for $1.

I just hope they have some color besides pink
