I saw a debate about schedules going on fb. I have no idea why anyone would put up schedules / games for this weekend. I dont see how it makes sense at all. Especially for the younger ages where there is no chance of playing on any field.

I dont really mind having the best team or even bringing in players, but 21 on a roster?

Ouch, hope yall get to feeling better. This weather is definitely doing a number on the bodies I believe with the drastic temp changes.

i agree on the rosters, especially when you are playing majors i dont think you can complain about the kids on another team at all, you should expect to play the best competition no matter where they are from. what they will do though is add 3-4 of the majors players to their AAA team for tournaments here and there which is kind of skecthy IMO.

we know a kid that was going to play for bombers this season, according to them, they are told that they will have 15 kids on saturdays and 18 kids on sundays, some kids will only be courtesy runners. they are looking for a new team right now

i just dont get the appeal as a parent of putting your kid on a team with 20 kids on the roster, knowing playing time will be always be an issue and new kids coming in on sundays or for big tournaments will get priority...

Absolutely agree - I want my kiddo playing against the best.

I just dont understand the appeal of being the 13-20th guy on that type of roster when you could probably put together a great team to compete with the team you're sitting on, lol.

I honestly think that Utrip should put a max number on the rosters. It is completely ridiculous to have 20+ on the roster. How is that fair to the boys or the families that are on the original team when the team brings in all these new players on Sunday or for tournaments. There is no way we would be associated with non sense like that

Yep... but whats nice is when your single group of 12 kids who have been on the original roster from Fall on.. ..beats the team of 22 and its championship Sunday teams...
Its a good feeling (and sight to see).

Yall will definitely have a rooting section, and its always fun to see.

Does the NTX team do any of that flying in stuff with crazy rosters?

I need to sale another parcel in Parker County and the acre we have on the West side of Eagle Mountain to do anything. The cheapest property near our home is $250K for an acre and we are keeping an eye on a good one if we can get stuff shuffled, might be able to get it for less than 190K, ouch.

10u, they asked for volunteers and we had some potential schedule conflicts Saturday so I took the Friday games. This will be our first time playing there.

Found out son is out for two weeks maybe longer depending on how rehab goes, Apophysitis of the pelvis/hip. Rehab work starts tomorrow. Just some advice, find a good sports medicine doctor before you need one. When pain starts, get them checked out. Doctor said, we found it early, could of been a lot worse if we waited. Son is heartbroken he will miss the tournament this weekend. Had to remind him he need to think long term keeping his body healthy.

Prayers for your boy.. good advice on the doc.
We found one early with our competitive cheer daughter.. having one that understands an athletes skills will definitely help with diagnosis and recoveries..

Had this debate with another parent yesterday....Would you rather your kid be on a top end team and be the last batter and primary RF or be on not as good a team and be 6/7 hole and get to play various positions?

I have always believed that a player should be on the highest level team that they can, that they still get significant playing time. You donít want them to be the best player, because players get better playing with better players, and you donít want them to be the worst, because they will not get the playing time they need to develop. IMO

assuming the kid wants to be on the team he's on, it would boil down to the coaching he was receiving. if i trusted the coach and felt like he was getting quality instruction, and if he wanted to play on the team, i would leave him where he was. he will get better playing better kids every day and if its something he really loves it will push him to work harder for a spot.
