Yep...Pelican for reasons mentioned BUT I did not buy one, my TBH son gave me one for Christmas a couple of years ago. Can't force myself to spend the $$ for one like he gave me, but it keeps anything I put in it cold and the ice lasts for days in the hot weather around Robert Lee.

I bought an engle 123 off their website because it was the only one that fit the height/width I needed. I like it better than any of the yetis I own, will buy from them again in the future.

All I have to say is the cooler business is good. People spend some coin on em.
Never thought I would see the day there was 500+ ice chest...

But I am still using the Igloo's I got 20 years ago... and yes I have replaced the hinges and latches a couple of time.
It spends 2 months in the field and 10 in the garage.

Bloodstick -

I donít know the folks at Frio, just bought some stuff from them.

I actually got the cooler used at a garage sale. Neighbor down the street is issued a new cooler every year at work, so he sells off his old one.

I bought a new drain plug, a light kit, and it has otherwise been trouble free.

Over the last couple of years, Iíve bought one of their mugs and a couple light bar kits to give away as gifts.

I want all of you with 20 year old igloos who love that cheap ice, to pack 4 days worth of food and drinks for 7 people, and carry it all out to the middle of New Mexico when it gets up over 80 degrees. Oh, more ice is an hour drive.

I don't care how close ice is, when I go to the woods...I want to stay in the woods. I work in town, and I don't want to have to go to town when I'm supposed to be in the woods. I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand.

1) It has to have a comfortable carry handle. I have an Igloo Yukon that has the molded handles. This is really nice for carrying, but somewhat of a pain for organizing since the handles stick out.

2) It has to have a big drain plug. I like the big 2" drain plug on my Yukon... those little soda bottle top size drain plugs take too long to drain and get clogged easily (call them that because if you loose the drain plug, you can use a pepsi soda bottle top - same thread!)

3) Beefy Hinge. Should be a big pin/bolt and ideally the hinge molded into the lid and bottom, no screwed in plastic hinges, etc.

4) Latches - There are a ton of latch styles... the rubber bungee style seem to work well.

5) Size - I'd rather own two 75 qts instead of one big 150 qt. The 150qt are heavy and expensive. The cheap igloo 150 qts were great for leaving in the garage with a couple deer, but where a pain to move by yourself full of meat/ice. They also had the cheap hinges and latches. Now I'd rather own two 75 qts. Right now I just have the one 75 qt and I can fit a lot in there with less ice, but the ice seems to last a bit longer once the meat gets cooled off!

I plan on buying another 75+/- cooler in the future...
Great to see posts like this. When the core of the products are so similar it's the details that matter.

I recommend buying made in USA first
Then a paid sponsorship on here ( bison) , all the roto mold coolers are about the same on ice retention

Agreed. Doesn't even have to be that tough of circumstances. I don't want to go buy more ice when I'm at the lake for a weekend, and with igloo/coleman we always did. I've forgotten what it's like to make an ice run. Changed our beer buying habits so we don't have to go get more of that either anymore.

I've never really understood why the Igloo sportsman series hasn't been more hyped here. They are a Texas based company (Katy, TX), the coolers are actually made here in Texas and they are MUCH more reasonably priced than other roto-molded coolers. They have both traditional heavy duty handles and molded in handles, large drain plugs, high quality latches and high quality hinges. You can go to most Sams Clubs and get the 55 for $199. I have one and it really is a good deal on a great cooler.

I totally think igloo missed a huge marketing opportunity
They had the tiger by the tail and fumbled the opportunity to dominate the market

I've got one of their 75ish quart models.
It does what I need it to and so far stays in the bed of my truck without walking off because I left the Igloo stickers on it- no craigslist resale I guess- fine by me .

I do like that I can hook up a water hose to drain my 95qt pelican to keep bloody water from draining throughout the truck bed , but it is tall and narrow which makes it top heavy if not full and extremely difficult to retrieve anything when in the truck " I am 5"8 "
So I use my 75 brute for most of my daily needs
I have a 200 deep blue from my boat and it is just way to big to mess with except as a stationary fish box for offshore

I just checked out the Walmart website $180 for a 74qt and $138 for a 54qt , not bad prices
$68 for a 150qt Colman max cool ( I always liked my Colman before I got brute)

This. I donít see how anyone can own an igloo cooler ďfor 20 yearsĒ and it not be falling apart.

Aside from the cheap plastic hinges that screw into the paper thin plastic on the cooler the plastic has separated from the little bit of foam that is in them on every single one I own. Itís held together by more duct tape and bailing wire than anything. Itís less than 5 years old and itís one of the Coleman extreme sportsman models that supposedly holds ice for 5 days in 90į weather. It doesnít and never has.

My 75 quart Brute (now Bison) is still in great shape after much more use and abuse and actually holds ice for 5-7 days depending on weather and frequency of opening the lid.

Amen

Just my 4 day javi hunt, with ice 15 miles away would eat up an hour a trip before I bought good coolers. 5 day out of state hunt is almost an hour one way. I hate leaving the place Iím hunting. Once Iím in the gate Iím not leaving till Iím done

Well put ! I have an RTIC for water bottles in my truck, but only because I have a camper shell and it gets pretty hot under there in the summer. It's small enough that I can set it in and out with no trouble, but for hauling quartered deer I go cheap. I don't drink beer, so no need to keep ice for days.

It does what I need it to and so far stays in the bed of my truck without walking off because I left the Igloo stickers on it- no craigslist resale I guess- fine by me .

BTW, this is my roto-molded cooler. I was selling something on here and a fella offered it up for trade and I figured I'd give it a try.

Have had that thing for a few years now, serval deer/hogs/camp food, etc. Love the handles and it does awesome on ice retention. The only draw back is the handles themselves. They do take up extra room since they are molded in; but sure does make it easy and comfortable to move around when it is loaded with ice and deer meat.

I love the no skid pads on the bottom, no need to tie it down in the truck, it won't slide around. The textured top is awesome for standing on, etc.

the made is the USA is subject to guidelines so don't take that to mean its 100% made here. You have to dig deeper to see how much is made here and if it bothers you that some of it is not.

I bought the same one off EBay for $270 delivered. Holds ice great but despite having 3 latches my lid is beginning to warp on one corner.
